Chapter 32: Ghosts and Reviews

"So, where is she?" Effie opened the door to her office, only to find a single parrot that was sitting calmly on the sofa.

This parrot, to which Umi had only just found out after Mochi's brief introduction, is the divine beast of Agape, the Goddess of Love. His head and body had a bright red color, with yellow shoulders and blue wings. If Umi didn't know well, she might mistake this animal as the Goddess of Love because of its scholarly temperament.

"She went to the restroom...you didn't see each other?" the parrot asked back, earning a groan from Effie.

"That woman has a poor sense of direction! This library is like a maze—" The goddess then turned to Mochi, who has just reached out to the cupcakes on the table. "Mochi, go find Agape or she'll never be able to leave this place."

Mochi, an obedient divine beast whenever the goddess is around, only nodded as he reluctantly let go of the cupcake.

"Because it is partly my fault that I let the goddess go in her own, then I, Otis the Great, will go with Mochi," the parrot added, earning an eye roll from the white kitten.

Chiki, who happens to be the son of the woman in question, only laughed. "Good for her."

Umi, who wanted to verify whether the boy was truly a god but also didn't want to be shipped off to death's door, only stayed quiet as she shifted in her seat while munching on a cookie.

'This cookie is very tasty! Well, at least better than what Zevlin baked.' Umi then made a sour face as her thoughts went wild. 'Geez, erase that burnt turd from my memory.'

After the two divine beasts set off to find one silly goddess, Effie, who didn't have the slightest clue as to how Umi and Chiki had already seated themselves on her sofa as they ate the snacks that she was supposed to eat, coughed loudly for everybody in the room to hear.

"Since Chiki already knows about you, and since I know very well that I'm not capable of kicking out this stubborn boy, then there's no point of trying to hide you, so allow me to provide the rewards that you deserve to get," Effie stated.

Effectively snapping herself out from her gloomy thoughts, Umi's ears perked up as her lips formed a smile, face clearly excited. Leaning forward on her seat, she waited for the goddess to approach her. When Effie arrived at the front of the woman, she then put a hand on Umi's head.

Humming, the goddess cheered, "You did an awesome job in the first world. I did not expect it at all but I was extremely entertained! Here are your rewards!"

Umi blinked her eyes as the voice of the goddess, yet only a seemingly robotic version of it, suddenly sounded on her head without prior notice.

"..." Umi felt that the cookie in her stomach was abruptly finding its way back to her throat.

Coughing loudly as she harshly tapped her chest, she genuinely didn't have the foggiest idea of how to respond. She was taken aback by the sudden voice on her head, but the way that the rewards were given was additionally startling. She totally didn't foresee that ah. There are even skill levels! This only means that these skills can be upgraded!
