"Wait, what happened?" Luke sighed into the phone, pacing back and forth in the middle of the living room. He was silent for a little and in the quiet I could hear a faint voice talking frantically on the other side of the phone. I watched him pace, rubbing his temples every so often and sigh.
I still didn't know who he was talking to. I was worried, though, because he was. A lot had happened to him recently- what else could go wrong? This, I guess.
Not too long after, Luke seemed reluctant to hang up the phone, but he gave into whoever he was talking to and ended the call.
"Michael," Luke said, as if he knew I was going to ask who it was. I frowned, suddenly becoming more upset with the situation, "What happened to Michael?" I asked, sitting up straighter in my spot.
"He met with Ashton." He groaned, sitting beside me and putting his face in his hands. "What do you mean, he met with Ashton?" I asked, a little harshly. I didn't mean to sound like it to him- thats just how it came out. I was upset with Ashton for disappearing and coming back out of no where. I was always upset with Ashton, though.
"And got in a fight," Luke continued, ignoring my question, "He's home now. He doesn't know where Ashton went- probably back to his place, too."
Luke still had his head in his hands as we sat there, the sides of our bodies pressed against each other since we were sitting so close.
The last time that I know of, Michael last saw Ashton at work with me. He told him to leave, and he sounded angry, but only like some of it had to do with the situation. Ashton seemed like the person to get on everyones bad side- I wouldn't be surprised if they had a few issues, too.
I didn't know what, though. Before I met Luke, and even afterwards, Michael never mentioned Ashton, or any of his other friends that I know now. There was a few times Michael would show up to work with a slightly swollen cheek or something like that, and I can't help but think maybe those were Ashtons work.
"Should we go see him?" I finally spoke up, looking over to him. He was looking up now, straight ahead, with his bottom lip caught between his teeth and his eyebrows furrowed as if he was thinking deeply.
He shrugged, then met his eyes with mine, "He said he was going to lay down for a little because of what happened, but maybe tomorrow." He paused, letting a pout play on his lips, "I want to go see him, too." Luke sighed as he wrapped one of his arms around my waist, pulling me impossibly closer into his side.
I knew that Michael would be okay, because I also knew he had been in a fight once or twice before, maybe with Ashton. I was still worried though, he's my best friend. I can't not be worried.
"So.. are we not going to out tomorrow anymore?" I asked after a little, my head resting on his shoulder.
He let a smile come across his face, looking at me, "No, we're definitely still doing something after we see Michael. I just don't know what yet."
