"Jem," Luke groaned, glancing at me with a slightly annoyed look, "It doesn't work."

I huffed and flicked him before crossing my arms over to my chest, "Prove it. I just want to know. How would you know?" I mumbled, making eye contact with him before glancing down to the ring pierced through his lip.

"I've tried it before." He sighed, fiddling with the back of the ring with his tongue, "I would know."

I rolled my eyes, leaning over him and grabbing the cup of water I got from the kitchen previously for this exact reason, "I don't care, I want to know. Maybe it'll work this time."

I always was curious about knowing if people with lip piercings could push water through the hole the ring went through. It seems like it would, if the ring was out.

Luke gave me a look but sighed and took the glass anyways, carefully taking out the ring. I grinned at him, finding it slightly odd seeing Luke without his usual black ring and just a small dot (that hardly looked like a hole) in its place.

Once he settled the ring somewhere he wouldn't lose it, he titled his head back and poured some of the water into his mouth before he looked at me again, trying not to laugh.

Much to my dissapointment, the water did not shoot through like I would have expected.

"Told you," He grinned, slipping the shiny metal back into place before shifting in his spot, pulling me back into his arms, "It doesn't work."

"Yeah, whatever," I sighed loudly, slipping my arms around his torso and resting my head on his shoulder. We were sitting on the couch, exactly where we fell asleep when we got back to Luke's place.

Luke seemed distant the past few hours. He could just have a lot on his mind though, worrying about his Mom and everything. I just wanted to try and distract him a little and every now and then it would work, despite us not being awake for more than two hours.

A little while after we woke up, I suggested hanging out with Michael and Calum. I wasn't really up to seeing Ashton, and I don't think Luke did either. Whenever they seemed to get a little angry or rude to each other, Michael and Calum didn't interfere - at all, and I never knew what to do. Also, I didn't know where Ashton was. I don't think any of us did.

Luke seemed a lot happier knowing he was going to be with the others, though, and that made me happy. I just wanted to see him smile- I know he's probably feeling off because of the situation with his Mom right now and I want to take his mind off of that. I've seen Luke upset a handful of times, and it just makes me feel guilty, really.

"When did you tell the others to come over?" I mumbled after sitting in silence for a few minutes. Luke glanced at the clock, his fingers playing with the hair that fell over my shoulder, "About two hours from now. S'that okay?" He murmured, gently pressing his nose against my temple and kissing my cheek, making me blush. I only nodded, shifting in my spot to get comfortable.

"Luke, what are you doing in there?" I spoke loudly, standing on the other side of Luke's locked bedroom door. I huffed, tapping my feet impatiently on the floor as I waited.

"Nothing!" He yelped on the other side, obviously struggling with something. I put my hand on the doorknob and tried opening it again, groaning at myself for even trying.

I sighed, leaning against the frame of the door, becoming impatient now.

"Okay- I, um," Luke grunted on the other side of the door and I could tell he was close to opening the door, "I'm gonna let you in. Don't laugh at me, I need help."

I started snickering, thinking of a lot of things Luke could have possibly done to himself to the point he was embarrassed and asking for help. I watched as the doorknob turned, and then I looked up to what I could see of Luke.

He was standing there, with no shirt on (well, kind of), and his face not visible. Behind him, my suitcase I brought over was open, a few things thrown out of it.

"Oh, my god," I said quietly, beginning to find the situation funnier the longer I stared. Luke had tried putting one of my shirts on, and got stuck in the process.

"Help me," He whined, struggling to free his long arms from the confines of the tshirt, "how do you do this?"

I ignored him and took a step forward, helping him remove the piece of clothing. It was an orange shirt, the design on the front starting to wear off from the amount of times I had worn it.

Luke huffed as the shirt was removed, then looked down at me with a blush rising onto his cheeks.

"What were you thinking?" I snorted, tossing the shirt back into my suitcase and trying my best to avoid looking at his chest, "You could have ripped that shirt."

Luke let out a sigh, as if his reason was obvious, "You're always wearing my clothes."

I sighed and poked his nose, smiling softly, "You're dumb, y'know that?" I murmured, watching as he let out a laugh and shrugged at my statement.

I rolled my eyes and leaned up, giving him a quick kiss and I grinned when he blushed more.

I turned to Luke's closet and stepped toward it before I began rummaging through his clothes as he did to mine. I pulled out one of his shirts- a white tshirt, something he didn't wear too often but looked great in- and tossed it to him.

Luke rolled his eyes playfully before pulling the shirt on over his frame, a smirk lingering on his lips.

"I bet they'll be here soon," He murmured, glancing out of the window before looking back at me. He stepped toward me and snaked his arms around my waist, pulling me into him.

I rested my head on his chest, sighing in content against him. We stood like that for awhile, just holding each other in silence. His hands were combing through my hair slowly, making me feel a little bit tired as we stood there.

A few knocks interrupted the silence, making me jump a little. Luke grinned and grabbed my hand, pulling me downstairs to the door where Michael and Calum were probably standing.
