"Wait, why did you want me to come over?" Michael frowned at me, crossing his arms over his chest as he sat on the edge of my bed.
I bit my lip, "I need your help, I'm um, going on a date, I guess."
Michaels eyes lit up, standing up quickly and putting his hands on my cheeks, "With who?" He asked eagerly, dropping his hands from my cheeks to my shoulders.
I giggled at him with a smile, which faltered at the realization that he wanted me to answer him.
"Luke." I mumbled, blushing darkly and looking him in the eye.
Michael smiled widely, "Do you still have that flannel you borrowed from him?"
I nodded sheepishly, glancing at the article of clothing that was laying on the floor with a few other pieces of clothing I never ended up picking up.
"Wear that, and let him take it off of you later."
I groaned, blushing darkly and pushing him back onto the bed with a quiet huff as he began laughing loudly, his green eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Mike, seriously. He's supposed to be here in two hours." I mumbled, "I know I've got a lot of time, but I really want your help for this."
Michael nodded and bit his lip, "You don't need to dress to impress Luke, you know. He's head over fucking heels for you, you could wear a paper bag over your head and he'd still think you're beautiful."
I chewed on the inside of my cheek, thinking about what he'd said. Was he lying, or just saying that? Was I just denying Luke's feelings, or my own? Because thinking about it now, I'd say I'm head over heels for Luke, too.
After the silence took over, I got up and picked out a simple black tank top and the flannel that Luke had let me borrow.
Michael softly smiled at me, getting up off of the bed, "Tell me when you're done." He said, giving me a friendly wink and leaving the room.
After the door shut, I changed into what I had picked up and a pair of black jeans, which I normally wore.
I rolled the sleeves to my elbows, because I noticed that Luke did that and also because the sleeves were longer on me. I opened the door and smiled at Michael, who was leaning against the wall, phone in hand.
He looked up at me, grinning, "Now what do you need me here for?"
"Company." I sighed, hugging my best friend tightly and laying my head on his chest. He smiles and wrapped his arms around my shoulders loosely, his chin resting on my head.
"I feel like we haven't properly hung out in awhile," I mumbled, keeping hold of him. We'd been friends for years and we used to hang out nearly every day. Something just feels different.
Michael shrugged, "I'll always be here, Jembles."
I laughed at the nickname because that was one of the many things he called me, and I hadn't heard it in awhile.
We both let go of each other and he grinned at me, his arms finding their way to cross over his chest.
"Where is Luke taking you?"
I blushed at the mention of Luke and shrugged, "He never specified it, just asked if he could take me out."
Michael nodded, his smile softening, "Tell me how it goes, okay?" He asked, then let his smile grow wider and he let a chuckle out, "I don't think he's ever taken a girl out."
I laughed at that, because I didn't think Luke had never been on a date before.
"I have to go, actually. I'm sorry, I would stay to help you with anything else, but.." He trailed off, sighing quietly.
I pouted at him, but nodded nonetheless. I knew that Michael didn't like getting asked about what he does in his past-time, or he just didn't like getting into things, so I didn't bother asking about why he had to leave.
We both walked downstairs, not saying anything. Once we got to the front door, I hugged him again for a few seconds.
"Text or call me about the date." He smirked, "I want to know how it goes, yeah?"
I nodded, blushing as he started off down the sidewalk. I shut the door and sighed, rushing back to my room.
**
For two hours, I walked around my house aimlessly, constantly going to the bathroom to fix something about my appearance.
I hated to admit it, but I was nervous. I don't think I got nervous that much, but when I did, it was something that really got under my skin and picked at me.
Eventually, Luke texted me. He told me that he would be here soon, and he had a few things planned.
I waited by the window until I saw the familiar black car pull up in front of my house.
I quickly walked out, smiling at Luke as I approached his car.
"Wait," Luke said just as I grabbed the door handle, then he got out of his side and jogged around to where I was standing. I blushed at him as he reached over and opened the car door, grinning.
I tried to hide the blush that crept up my cheeks as I got in, running a hand through my newly dyed brown hair.
Luke got back in and smiled at me, fiddling with the black ring that was pierced through his lip, "I've got three things in mind, and I'll let you choose what we do first."
