"What are my options?" I asked, grinning at him. He was wearing the same black jeans he always did, with a black baseball tee with white sleeves and black stars on the arms. He looked good, I thought, but when does he not?

"Dinner," He blushed, glancing at me as he began to drive off the street, "or a movie, which ever you prefer,"

Luke paused for a moment, just as he was about to say a third option. He sucked in his breath and sighed a bit before glancing at me, not finishing the three choices, "Would it be weird if I were to introduce you to my Mum?" He asked me softly, looking at the road.

I bit my lip, shaking my head, "No, why? That wouldn't be weird, I'd love to meet her." I spoke softly, trying to keep my voice even because thinking about meeting his mom made me a little bit more nervous than before.

"Because that was the other thing I had in mind," Luke murmured, fiddling with the black ring in his lip.

I thought about it for awhile, then nodded slowly to nothing, "You said I can choose what we do first?"

Luke nodded beside me, glancing at me for a second.

"I want to meet your Mom, then."

We drove in silence to the hospital, but the radio played Green Day quietly. Luke would hum a little bit, but he never made the move to turn it up and sing along.

It wasn't an awkward silence, we just didn't have anything to talk about.

We got out of the car in the large, packed, hospital lot and made our way to the doors. I was nervous, now. The feeling died down for a bit, but came back as soon as we stepped into the doors.

The part of the hospital we had walked in was empty, but I still felt the need to hold the back of Luke's shirt as he walked to the girl at the front desk and spoke something to her quietly.

She smiled and nodded at whatever Luke said, then pointed down one of the halls.

We walked that way, and then was the time I managed to let go of his shirt, but I grabbed his hand instead.

He halted for a second, as if the touch shocked him. Luke walked again with a blush on his cheeks and his fingers fumbling to interlock with mine.

"What's got you so nervous?" Luke spoke softly, glancing down at me with his bright blue eyes as his thumb ran over my knuckle.

I scoffed, looking down at the floor as we walked, "Thats what I should be asking you." I mumbled and looked at him, just to see Luke blushing even darker.

After walking for a few minutes, he paused in front of the door and I looked at the tags by the door. There was only one name on it, Liz Hemmings, which was obviously who was I about to meet.

The sick feeling in my stomach went down, and I felt a bit more confident as Luke gave my hand a light squeeze and opened the door, leading both of us inside.

"Mum?" He spoke at the same time that the woman in the bed turned her head slightly, a smile sketching itself onto her face.

Her eyes found themselves onto me and I smiled kindly at her, and she then looked at our hands that were joined by my hip.

Liz's smile grew to a grin and she spoke, "Luke, will you please introduce us?"

He let out a breath that I feel like he had been holding in for awhile now before speaking, "Jem, this is my Mum, Liz. Mum, this is Jem."

I let go of Luke's hand and extended my arm out when Liz did the same with the arm that didn't have anything attached to it, then shook her hand.

She was gentle, just like Luke. They looked alike, too, they both shared soft eyes and kind smiles.

"Hi," Liz smiled, letting go of my hand, "I've heard a lot about you."

Luke made a sound from behind me and both of us laughed as I turned to see him with his arms crossed like a child, a pout on his lips.

"She's kidding, you know. She does that." Luke mumbled, obviously trying to make a cover up.

Nonetheless, I smiled and looked at Liz again, "Then I think we'll get along just fine."

**

After staying in the hospital for a little less than an hour, both Liz and Luke insisted that we should get going. Half way through, a nurse had come in and gave something to Luke's mother. A little while later, she'd been on the edge of falling asleep.

We left and got into the car, both of us smiling to ourselves. I don't know why, we both just happened to be in a good mood right then.

"So, where do you want to go, now?" He asked me after we sat in silence for a little while.

I shrugged my shoulders, thinking about what he had said earlier. My options were either dinner, or a movie, but I didn't really want to do either. I wouldn't care what we did, though. as long as Luke was enjoying himself too.

Luke must of known what I was thinking, because he let a low chuckle out and began driving out of the lot, "What about a movie at my house?"

I laughed and nodded, then glanced over at his hand that was resting on the console, before placing my hand in his like before.

The same feeling that I felt from before returned, but it felt more like it was shocking me. As soon as our fingers slotted together perfectly, the feeling coursed through me and I wanted to feel it forever.

Luke must have felt it too, because he sucked in a sharp breath and he had a light smile playing at his lips when I looked at him.

The quiet continued, and I began thinking about when I first met Luke, and how Michael had told me the first thing I ever came to realize about him.

Without thinking, I glanced at him and blurted; "What's your worst habit?"

He chewed on the thin metal that pierced his lip, then looked at me after a few seconds.

"You."
