"Hey, you!"
I turned quickly in the streets to the voice, assuming it'd been calling for me. It was cold out, so not a lot of people were wandering the streets down-town at this time. It was getting dark and I was leaving work.
In the distance, coming closer, I saw Calum. It'd been awhile since I saw him, I thought, last time we were around each other, he hadn't said a word. That wasn't any more than three weeks ago.
Once he finally caught up to me, he stopped, doubled-over and put his hands on his knees so he could catch his breath, which came in long, deep takes.
"You alright?" I laughed, patting his back lightly.
He nodded and stood up straight, licking his dry lips and sighing loudly, "Luke needs you right now. Uh," He mumbled, adjusting the beanie on his head, "He's been begging me to come and see if you'll come over for the past half hour."
I cleared my throat, thinking it over before nodding sheepishly, "Why does he need me, exactly..?" I asked slowly, looking up at him in confusion.
"I dunno, he's been hating the world since last night. He came over to my place about two hours ago, and, yeah. You'll see." He said slowly, speaking the last part with a soft laugh.
I nodded slightly, still confused. As little as I knew Calum, I trusted him. I felt like he was a friend.
Calum pressed his palm against my shoulder, turning me around so we began walking the way he came running from. I was guessing he had a car parked a bit down the road, because he was holding car keys. I only wondered why he didn't just drive to where I was instead of running.
We got inside the car, which was a lot messier than I would have guessed. I managed to make room for my feet and sighed, getting comfortable in the seat by moving around multiple times.
"Hey, I have a question," Calum spoke, keeping his eyes on the road as he drove.
"What is it?" I asked, glancing at him before looking back out the window as he sighed.
"Did something happen with Ashton?" He asked softly, his dark eyes glancing from the road to me for a second before looking back.
I bit my lip, shifting in my own seat, "Yeah, but it's not that big of a deal. Did Michael say something?"
Calum shrugged, turning onto a street that I vaguely remembered, "Yesterday, we had a meet-up with the band. We were all there, except Ash, Michael told us he didn't want him there,"
He took a deep breath, parked in front of the house that I remembered Michael taking me to for their band practice awhile ago, then spoke again, "Then he told us that he couldn't come to the actual practice tomorrow, or next week. Which is kind of disappointing."
I nodded along as he spoke, although he paused as we both slowly got out from the car. When we began walking up the house, he finished speaking with a sigh, "I suggested that we take some time off from the band, because I'm pretty busy on most of the days we have practice for the next two months or so. After we all agreed, Michael took Luke into another room to talk. I heard your name a few times, and Luke came out looking like he was about to explode."
I bit my lip, watching his hand reach for the door knob. Calum let out an awkward laugh, glancing at me, "I have no idea what he's doing now, so I apologize greatly." He spoke uneasily before opening the door.
The first thing I heard was Luke singing at the top of his lungs, and music playing faintly. Calum sighed and walked into the living room down the hall, to which I followed behind him.
