He strolled across the castle late at night. It became rather gloomy and dark for a castle that practically shone and was filled with the chatter of students during the day. But he didn't mind it, he rather liked it better this way. He always loved to be secluded and alone, that is why his would always darken his classroom by closing the heavy curtains. He reached the gargoyle on the seventh floor and said "sherbet lemon". The gargoyle stepped aside revealing circular marble staircase leading to Dumbledore's office.

"Severus, I must say I'm quite surprised to see you at this hour".

"You cannot expect me to do your bidding when you do not tell me everything Dumbledore"

"What do you mean Severus?"

"You know exactly what I mean Dumbledore. You didn't tell me how powerful the girl was, you sent me to teach her Occlumency but were you aware that she was perfectly capable of doing so without even having any kind of prior knowledge about it? The girl's mind was closed off even when I used all my strength. It might also interest you to know that instead of me being able to get into her mind, she opened mine unknowingly. The deepest of my memories, the most painful times, everything that I had intended to hide from my own head lay open before her."

"Severus, I did not know she could do that"

"But you know other things don't you Dumbledore? Why won't you tell me? is it because you still can't trust me?"

"You know I trust you with my life Severus. You know I do, do not accuse me of such things."

"I'm sorry. But I do not understand. Potter, I do. I understand why he must learn Occlumency. But I simply do not find a reason for teaching the Pierce girl"

"The fact that she could already perform Occlumency, growing up in a muggle household is not reason enough?" Dumbledore looked at him with a faint smile.

"Ask me. If I feel the time is right, I might answer a few."

"You told me she is a pureblood when we first headed there to wipe the memories of the people around her. Who are her parents?"

"I cannot answer that" Snape let out a sigh, he knew he couldn't stretch the matter. Dumbledore just wouldn't budge after he declined something.

"Does the girl know? About her family?"

"Not yet"

"How is she so powerful?"

"I don't have an answer to that yet. But I have a faint idea, I shall inform you as soon as I confirm it."

"Why did she not receive a letter to Hogwarts at 11 years of age?"

"It was for her own safety Severus"

Snape begin to open his mouth again when Dumbledore interrupted him.

"I think that's enough about Miss Pierce for now. I would like to know how Harry is doing at Occlumency lessons?"

Snape scowled but obliged to give him an answer, "he is terrible at it. Lashes every time he is unable to get it right. There has been no progress with him Dumbledore. He is a lost cause"

"Do not give up on him yet Severus, Harry has still great things to do"

" I do not understand your blind trust on the incapable boy Dumbledore, yet I will continue to teach him. But be informed, Potter is nothing in front of the girl's power. She will be the advantage we have Dumbledore. I will continue to teach her with my best efforts."

"I'm glad you realise the potential in Irene, Severus. You are the best mentor she will find. You are right Severus, we need the girl and it is important that she is prepared for the path that lies in front of her."
