Part 1 mysteries in the shadows

It was a cloudy day outside as it normally was it was a way of saying rain is to come. I look outside my window just as the rain was beginning to fall from the gloomy clouds and within minutes it becomes a full downpour, I knew today was going to be one of those days where everything and everyone get wet if the take a step outside. Shaking myself from my thoughts just as my phone buzzed with a notification I pick it up turning it on to see why it went off only to see it was a message from my grandpa so I just toss my phone back onto my bed not wanting to talk to him. There is a good reason for me not wanting to talk to him I mean he was very rude to me and had a very bad drinking problem. He did go to a rehab to get better and he got back from there a few months ago and was trying to reach out to me saying he was sorry for what he did, but I wont forgive him for stealing money from me and breaking me and my now ex up because he was also stealing money from him as well which lead to a lot of fighting with my ex. I go to my closet and grab my suitcase and start packing because I was going on vacation for the first time in years since collage is now out for the summer I was glad no more school work no more tests and no more pestering grandfather. Looking out the window once more I sigh as I thought of my trip to a small town called duskwood, I wasn't quite sure why choose to go there of all places in world like I could have gone to Hollywood. My mom and grandmother used to always talk about the place in fact my grandmother was from duskwood until her and grandpa moved to new jersey and had my mom and my aunt. My phone starts ringing I look over at it to see it was grandpa so I declined the call and finished pack my suitcase I then put my phone in my back pocket and drag it down stairs to my car. After I locked up my home I get into my car starting it up and drive to the airport, I arrive there not to long after and I go and do all the things I have to. Sitting in uncomfortable chairs for almost two hours was painful to say the least not the best experience in my opinion but finally I was able to board the plane and take off to the next destination on my long flight. A couple hours later we land but sadly it was another two hours drive to duskwood and I wasn't looking forward to this one bit because I'm going to be aching all over when I get there. I walk out to the car rental putting my suitcase into the back of the car and get in starting my long drive to duskwood. An hour later I take food break and got to one of the nearby gas stations granted not the best idea but I was starving and needed to eat something so I buy myself some chips a something to drink before getting back on the road. Eventually I arrive in duskwood and go to the towns motel pulling into the parking lot I close my eyes. After a little I get out and go get a room to stay in for my vacation I'll say this the janitor kind of creeped me out same with little boy that stood next to him. I would quickly go and take my things to my room "well that was a bit creepy" I would say to myself sighing as I sat on the bed. I would hear my phone ring so I pull it out of my pocket to see it was my mom so I quickly answer it "hey mom what's up?" I ask her "nothing much so how was the flight? Are you in duskwood?" she starts asking me. I laugh a little at this "the flight was okay and yes I've made it to duskwood it's really pretty just as you said" I tell her we ended up talking quite a while until I said I needed to get some rest so I could explore the town later on tomorrow. With that I call it a night and hit the hay and I was out like a light in minutes. Morning comes some hours later I would grumble not wanting to get up but I eventually get up and take a shower. I would walk into the lobby of the building.I walk up to the desk and ask the girl that is there a question "is there any place nice I could got to eat breakfast?" I ask her she nods "yes there is there's the rainbow café their food is great" she answers I thank her after getting the directions. I was now standing outside of the rainbow café debating weather or not I should go inside in the end I go in. Looking around the building it seems quite nice it feels like home in a odd way something that's hard to explain, a waitress strides over to me. "Is there anything could get for you today miss?" she asks I look at her for a moment to take in her appearance she was short with long wavy dirty blond hair that's up in a ponytail. "oh could I please have a cappuccino?" I ask she nods "and what would you like to eat?" she asks me I look at the menu "could I get this" I say pointing at the menu to show her it because I don't know have to say the name of it. "Okay we'll have everything out to you a few moments" she says and walks away to give the cooks the order sitting there again with my thoughts I look out the window to see people happily talking as they walk by the windows. Sighing I rest my head on my hand think what it would have been like if me and my ex didn't break up, he could have been here with me having fun but then again he wasn't ever a big nature kind of guy. As I shake my head just as my food was being placed on the table I say thanks and eat, I finished eating long later and I have to day the food there was amazing and so was the coffee. I pay and leave a tip before I left to explore the town. As I explore I got to see so many beautiful things like a flower shop and lake most people that are from big cities like me wouldn't really care all that much for the small things. I decide to go down one of the alley ways that's got a few people walking on it I sit on a bench to rest because I've been walking around a lot. Pulling out my phone and taking a photo I hear something so I get up and look for the thing I heard. I stop dead in my tracks as I hear two people talking "so how long has the girl been missing for now?" a older male says the younger man shakes his head "almost three days now and we don't have single clue to go off of" he says rubbing his face. "Noah it's going to all work out you will see" say the older guy "how Felix! We have no clues we have nothing, nothing at all!" Noah says to Felix in a loud voice. "Hey! Keep it down will you! You know how fast news gets around in this town" Felix says I was shocked I cover my mouth and slowly backed away from them then I ran back to my car. I sit in the car trying to process what I just heard that's when I realize that was a conversation that I wasn't suppose to hear. "God what am I going to do? Should I just leave but I just got here yesterday" I sigh and decide to drive back to the motel to think more about this. Laying in bed think wasn't really helping so I grab a book and start reading to get my mind off what has happened today.
