Meet Mona

Fifteen years ago, when I was just a little girl... my mom's eccentric friend did something that would affect me in the most unexpected way.  --Mona.

Twinkle:  Mrs. Lee? Are you there? 

She hasn't returned my calls she's nowhere to be found... I'm glad I've already called my husband. I hope he'll know what to do. Hmm... is that a note?!

Fifteen minutes later...

Shawn:  Hey, what happened? 

Twinkle:  It's Mrs. Lee... she's gone!

Shawn:  What?!

Twinkle:  She just... left. I found a note, but it doesn't say much. Look!

Dear Twinkle... I had no choice but to leave, but don't worry. Our paths will cross again when a new, young love takes root. All will be well, may the fortune be with you. --Agatha Lee.

Shawn:  See, my love? Everything's going to be fine. Mrs. Lee has always been an eccentric woman, so this doesn't surprise me. I'll help you manage the shop and life will go on.

Twinkle:  Thank you, Shawn. You've always known how to calm me down.

Shawn:  Now, I just wonder what Mrs. Lee meant by "new, young love". This might sound silly, but... could she be talking about Mona?

Twinkle:  Mona?! [Gasps]

My name is Mona and for all intents and purposes... I'm a very happy 17-year-old girl. You are probably familiar with my mom... Twinkle and she runs Psychic Parlor and Metaphysical Gift Shop. She's my best friend, smart, gifted, and beautiful... but just a bit too overprotective for my liking. When she was in high school she hooked up with my dad Shawn. They married when I was two... you see, I have a very interesting family life. You know the story. The circumstances leading up to my birth were pretty crazy, needless to say I was shocked when I received my Dear Mona letter at 16, but Mark, Shawn and my mother... they've made it work and for the most part, everyone's friendly.

Which is good for me... because Mark's daughter Cheri is my soul sister, she's like a sister to me... and we're as close as two people can be. 

(Derek pops up.)

Oh, and that's Derek, Max's son. You'll hear a lot about him later. Everything turned out okay in the end which is why you may be surprised to learn... that I. Don't. Date. I've never had a boyfriend, never kissed anyone, and I have no intention of doing so. Well... had, because this year, everything changed and it all began with a tragedy.

(Texting-  Mona:  I can't believe it's the first day of senior year, where did the summer go?!

(Texting-  Cheri:  Tell me about it. I hope this year goes by fast and I can't wait to get to college.

(Texting-  Mona:  I don't! Senior year is going to be the best year yet! Once I'm in college, I'll be all about becoming a veterinarian... so I'll try to have some fun while I still can.

(Texting-  Cheri:  You're way too optimistic for six in the morning. So, tell me... what are you going to wear today?

(Texting-  Mona:  I have no idea. Usually, I have it planned out and I've been so busy at the shop.
