Detour

Christian: Remind me never to make fun of Sonia again. From now on, I'll do my best to recall everything she told me, I can't believe I forgot the part of her reading... "Don't pet the gray dog."

Mona:  I can't believe it either. That dog was so cute, I don't blame you for petting him.

Christian:  Yeah, well... who knew that cute face was hiding a monster. Eight stitches!

Mona:  I talked to the people outside, since you're under eighteen... they had to call your mom. She should be calling you--

(Phone dings.)

Mona:  Any minute now. ;)

Christian:  Ugh, here we go.

Mona:  I'll give you some privacy. [Walks out]

I wonder if my mom--

(Phone dings too.)

There she is.

(Texting-  Twinkle:  What on earth happened?! 

(Texting-  Shawn:  Mona? Call us as soon as possible!

(Texting-  Mona:  Hi to you too, mom, dad. Don't worry... we're okay, I'll call you a bit later. I'm at the hospital.

(Texting-  Shawn:  Yes, we heard! Christian was attacked?!

(Texting-  Mona:  No! We were at a gas station filling up... and Christian bent down to pet a dog. Let's just say the dog wasn't very friendly.

(Texting-  Twinkle:  Oh my god! The dog attacked him?! 

(Texting-  Mona:  Yes, but he's okay. All stitched up and he's going to be released soon.

(Texting-  Shawn:  I don't like this, it's dangerous already and the week has just started.

(Texting-  Mona:  Dad, it's fine. I promise, we're going to hit the road soon, and everything will be fine.

(Texting-  Twinkle:  Just... call us when you get to the next hotel.

(Texting-  Mona:  Will do.

(Texting-  Twinkle:  We love you.

(Texting-  Shawn:  A lot.

(Texting-  Mona:  Love you, too.

Three hours later...

Mona:  [Yawns] What a day, but we made it.

Christian:  Barley. My Advil hasn't kicked in yet.

Poor Christian...

Mona:  Aww, it's hard to watch you suffer like that. Is there anything I can do?

Christian:  Can you kiss it and make it better? ;)

Mona:  Now that... sounds like a good idea.

Back on the road...

Mona:  Bottled water, chips, baked goods... we're not being very healthy.
