The Bonfire Incident

Mona:  What do you mean, you don't think that's what you said? You told me right when I picked you up that you had a girlfriend.

Christian:  No. I said that "boys with girlfriends didn't care about attention from girls".  Which is true, is it not?

Mona:  Yes... but that totally implies that YOU have a girlfriend.

Christian:   Maybe.

Mona:   So you admit to it. Why would you want to imply that?

Christian:  I wanted to see how you'd react, and man [Giggles] your face dropped.

Mona:  Well, I was shocked! I figured you having a girlfriend would have come up before then.

Christian:   Why would it have?

Mona:  Ugh, whatever! I don't understand why you're playing games with me. I'm just trying to be nice.

Christian:  I mean no offense, like I said, I was just interested in what your reaction would be.

Mona:  Why though? Why do you care about what I think of your relationship status?

Christian:  That's for me to know, and for you to find out.

Mona:  Real mature answer. I don't have time for this.

Christian:  Okay, okay, I'm sorry and if I'm being totally honest here... I've never even had a girlfriend. I have no desire to date anyone seriously.

Mona:  Why not?

Christian:  Because it seems like a lot of work, and I'm too young to worry about any of that.

Mona:  Well, you and I have that in common then. I've never had a boyfriend either.

Christian:  Yeah, mom told me. Imagine that? You and I actually agree on something. [Giggles]

Mona:  [Laughs and looks at him]

Christian:   So--

(Liam shows up.)

Liam:  There you are, Mona. I've been looking all over for you!

Mona:  Oh! Hey, Liam.

Liam:  What the hell is he doing here?

Mona:   Liam, Christian is a friend of mine. He's new here and I wanted to bring him around to meet a few people.

Liam:  Yeah well, if you're a friend of Mona's, I guess you can stay. Just stay the hell out of my way.

Christian:   No problem. As long as I'm not in danger of being spit on.

Mona:  Liam, why would you have spat--

Liam:  Mona, I wanted to show you something. My dog just had a litter of puppies, they're inside.

Mona:  There are puppies inside?! 

Liam:  I know how much you love animals. I wanted to make sure you got to see them.

Is he avoiding my question? Liam's probably right to avoid the subject. The last thing I want is to cause another fight here.

Mona:  Yes, please! Take me to the puppies! [Claps] Christian, I'll be back in a bit.

Christian:  Yeah... sure.

Liam:  Right this way, m'lady.

(Mona and Liam walk to the house and Derek goes to see Christian...)
