You both stood in silence, his gloved hands remaining over your eyes for a few minutes. You wondered how long this would last. Or, what he was doing while you stood like this. The thought that he was just staring at you while you stood infront of him with his hands pressed to your eyes brought heat to your cheeks.
It was an embarrassing thought to think you were just being stared at.
"Uhm, Childe?" you spoke out, nervously.
"Just one more minute" he replied in a hushed tone. You could hear the smile in his voice. It would be a lie to say that he wasnt getting some kind of enjoyment out of the position, as odd as it may seem on the outside. There was something nice about the quietness and the closeness, and he enjoyed the fact you didnt question his action and were allowing him to keep your vision from you like this.
He found it cute.
His hands suddenly left your eyes, leaving you blinking against the sudden light for a few moments before you were able to open them fully. Childe was looking towards the horizon, your eyes followed his gaze.
The sun was dipping below the sea line, creating splashes of colour across the sky, pinks and oranges dancing over the light clouds and shimmering on the still ocean water.
Liyue was lit up like a lantarn, the whole city looking completely different than it had done in the day, and it looked far better than the sunset the previous night from this high up. You felt a weight you didnt know you had lift from your shoulders, a smile appearing on your face as you took in the view. You felt relieved, as though just seeing this sunset had made all of your worries and burdens vanish.
You even briefly forgot that you werent alone up there, until he spoke "told you it was the best place in Liyue"
You took a few steps forward, reaching your hand out towards to dipping sun, the light flowing through the spaces in your fingers as you pretended you could reach out and grab it and keep the colours for yourself "it is" you agreed softly.
Childe watched from behind you where he had perched himself on a small boulder, studying you as you stood mesmorized by the sight before you. It was nice, he had to admit, he had seen this view for a while now, always finding himself up here after stressful days with work or after his strenous training regime. It felt nice to have someone else to share the view with though, it made him feel like he was seeing this view for the first time again. Your happiness becoming infectious as he found himself smiling when he looked to your smiling face.
He shook his head, his eyes wandering back to the sky. You were definetly worthy of his interest, he confirmed to himself.
The colours started to fade from the sky as the sun disappeared fully beneath the horizon, giving way to the navy sky and shimmering stars that were scattered overhead. "We should head back" Childe sighed.
"Five more minutes" you muttered, not taking your eyes from the sky "please?"
He sighed before smiling "sure, five more minutes"
You soaked in as much of the view as you could before you felt the chill of the night starting to set in and Childe tapped your shoulder, telling you it was time to go now "I think we've tourtured your guardians long enough" he teased. That comment suddenly filled you with guilt over the thought of Venti and Zhongli still somewhere in Liyue looking for you.
"Right" you nodded, rubbing at your arms both from the guilt and the chill. Childe noticed your small shivers. Wordlessly he removed his sash, drapping it around your shoulders. You blinked up at him but he simply grinned down at you before helping you from the peak of the mountain
