You woke at the first ray of light that seeped into your room. As you sat up, the room suddenly felt colder than it had been upon your arrival. You dragged yourself from your bed, your body felt heavy, your eyes tired, you felt numb, you hadnt fully processed what had happened last night, or your feelings.
You had quickly grown close to Childe when you arrived, the red head barely leaving your side unless he was dragged away for work. His company had been nice, for you. You were used to doing things alone in Mondstat, not because nobody wanted to hang around you, but more because you and all of your friends were busy. You had joined Kaeya, Amber, and even Bennett on a few missions, and adventures, but for the most part you did things alone.
So, the company you had gained from Childe was a welcomed change. A change that would disappear now.
The hot water from the shower rushed over your shoulders, washing away everything but your thoughts. You heaved a sigh as you stepped from the shower, drying off and rubbed your hair in a towel to remove the water droplets.
You knew what you had to do, if nothing else, this would bring you closure before you departed from Liyue.
But first, breakfast. A smile came to your face at the thought of getting to spend a little time with Xiangling before you left.
After dressing and securing your trusty sword to its usual place, you started to tidy up your temporary home. Making the bed, sweeping the floors, cleaning any dishes you had used during your stay, dusting, and finally, you took the disgarded outfit from its heap on the floor, folding it neatly and placing it on the bed. You werent taking it with you.
You wandered through the quiet morning streets, waving hello and greeting the merchants you had come to know through your small daily interactions with them, always waving goodmorning and goodnight to them when you passed. They were nice people. You would miss these small mundane interactions.
"Morning, Xiangling" you greeted as you wandered through the resturant door. She turned to you, her cheeks pink from the heat of the cooking fire, she smiled asking how you were "Im going back to Mondstat"
"When?"
"Today"
She gave you a sad frown "awh, youve been here so long it'll be strange with you gone again" she pouted, before she grabbed ahold of your arm "you'll come visit loads though, right?"
You smiled, nodding "of course" although you werent sure if you were telling the truth or not "I was hoping I could pick up one final breakfast of yours"
She grinned "of course, one Xiangling breakfast special coming up!" she declared, returning to her cooking with enthusiasm while you left the resturant to find a seat. Before doing so, you quickly crossed the street to the adventurers guild. Katheryne greeted you with the adventures guild saying and smiled warmly "I'm here to return the key, thank you for letting me stay"
"Oh, you're leaving?" she asked as she took the key from you, you nodded "well, I wish you safe travels, please come back anytime. There will always be a room for you in Liyue"
You smiled, returning to the resturant and taking a seat, Xiangling appearing with a steaming plate of hot food moments later. She placed the meal infront of you, declaring happily "one Xiangling special for one special person".
You laughed "thank you, Xiangling" you reached for your mora, extend it towards her "here-"
She pushed your hand back "no!" she exclaimed before smiling softly "this ones on me"
You felt your chest tighten; seems that your departure was effecting your chef friend more than you thought. You thanked her as she skipped back to the kitchen, leaving you to enjoy your hot breakfast in peace.
