"Let's go somewhere exciting for dinner tonight," Calum suggested as we sat on the couch watching TV. I wasn't really paying attention to the show, but it looked like a documentary.
"What did you have in mind?" Ashton asked, looking over at Calum. He shrugged. Michael groaned with irritation.
"What about that restaurant downtown?" I suggested. They looked at me. And waited. For a long time.
"Which restaurant downtown?" Ashton asked, waiting for an answer.
"On Air," I replied. I'd heard good things about it, and every night, someone played a gig. I thought it'd be cool to play there someday, so we should check it out.
"I don't know if I've heard of it," Michael chipped in.
"It's that restaurant that has someone playing a gig every night, and there's the sign out front that tells you if someone's playing," I told them. Calum and Michael still looked confused, but Ashton nodded in recognition.
"Oh, yeah. I've heard of that place," he said. "We should go. Do some adventuring downtown!" With that, he jumped off the couch and up the stairs. I heard the shower come on. I guess that means we're going.
I went upstairs to my room and grabbed some new clothes. I'd showered this morning, so there was no need for me to now. I skipped down the stairs and told my mother where we were going. I thought that I should give Jordan a call and ask her if she wanted to come.
"Hola!" I heard on the other line when she answered.
"Hi, Gingy!" I replied. I heard a crash on the other end. "What was that?"
"Oh, I'm just going to play a gig with my uncle tonight. He dropped a cymbal," she told me. Oh, so I guess she wouldn't be coming tonight.
"Nevermind then," I said. I plopped down on the couch next to Calum who was texting someone.
"What?" she questioned in confusion.
"Oh, I was just going to ask if you wanted to go out with us to dinner, but if you've got something else going on, then by all means, go," I clarified. It was a bit silent.
"Oh, sorry about that," she apologized. "I would've loved to come, but I can't."
"Don't worry about it," I assured her. "There will be other dinners."
"I will keep those in mind," she said. I heard another crash. "Well, this was a lovely chat, Lukey, but I better get going."
"Alright, talk to you later!" I exclaimed. I heard Brian swearing in the background.
"You too. Bye!" and she hung up. Just then, Ashton bolted down the stairs.
"Are you guys ready?" he asked in a rush. Calum looked up from his phone, and I noticed that Michael had fallen asleep in the chair. Ashton snuck up behind him and scared him. Michael has never jumped so high in his life. Ashton cracked up with laughter along with Calum. I chuckled in amusement.
I was really disappointed that Jordan wouldn't be joining us tonight. I really want to get to know her better. I've been watching a lot of Doctor Who lately. I can't watch it without thinking about that moment I almost kissed her. Time seemed to stop, and there wasn't anything I could do to slow the beating of my heart. I remember it so vividly, it was almost as if I was reliving it.
"I'm ready to go," I said once everyone else had settled down. We all got up and got situated before getting in the car. Ashton was going to drive since no one else had a driver's license.
