Maze runner (love story with newt)

I woke up to the sound of the maze opening and Newt beside me, in his bed, he was giving me the weirdest look "good morning sunshine"
"Good morning Newt" I say as I sit up. "Still don't know your name?" He asks. "Nope" I huff under my breath. "It's ok you'll get it soon" he says as he comes over and sits on the end of my bed.

"You've got messy bed hair" he smirked at me.

"Shut up! I don't have a hairbrush so I can't do anything about that!" I start to feel embarrassed when he says,
"Don't be embarrassed I think it looks cute and don't worry I made you one this morning!" He passes me a perfect wooden brush with bamboo bristles. "Wow this is perfect! Thank you so much Newt" I am shocked.
"Don't worry it was nothing" he brushes his hand through his hair and leaves to go do his job.

I get into the spare clothes Newt gave me behind a tree and brush my hair with my new brush, he had carved it so well that it was soft, as I brush it through my hair I felt something on the back off the brush thinking that maybe he just carved it too deep on that side but then I looked, realising that he had written something on the back "sunshine" I say out loud.

"What?" A little boy said coming up to me.

"Nothing, who are you?" Continuing to brush my hair.

"Oh sorry, my name is Chuck! Nice to meet you" he puts out his hand and so do I "Hi Chuck, I would tell you my name but I don't know it yet sorry" I say still shaking hands with him.

Chuck pulls me towards him by my hand and whispers into my ear, " Newt was looking at you all morning, watch out for him" he say letting go of my hand and laughing.

"Really? Even though I don't know him I feel like I have a strong connection with him for some reason...wait did I just say that out loud?"putting my hands over my mouth.

Chuck begins to laugh, "falling for someone already and it hasn't even been a day? Don't worry I won't tell anyone"

"Thanks... hey I was wondering, do you know what job I am supposed to do around here because Alby hasn't told me yet?" I say changing the subject.

"No sorry, maybe you should ask him. He's talking to the runners next to the gate, let's go and talk to him!"

We start running over to Alby, Chuck out of breath shouting at me "WAIT FOR ME" I start to slow down and wait for him to get to me. "Wait up newbie" he try's to say will taking breaths in between his words.
"Chuck your so slow" I laugh and we walk the rest of the way to Alby.

"Hey Alby" I say as he walks towards us.
"I'm sorry I didn't ask sooner but I was wondering what my job is in the glade?" I say as I watch the runners disappear into the maze.

"Oh yes, Newt asked me this morning the same thing, he said that it would be best if you worked with him?" He smiles at me.

"Ok! Where is he?" I blush.

"Over there with the track-hoes, you work with the plants, it's a bit like trenching, do you want to do that?" he looks at me as if I am not capable of doing the job.

"She's a strong girl I think she can handle it!" Shuck interrupts.

"Yes that's ok" I then mumble under my breath "as long as it's with him"

"What did you say?" Alby confusingly said.

"What? Oh I said...I am a strong girl" I smile and I walk over to the track-hoes where I see Newt digging.

"Hey Newt!"

"Hi sunshine, what are you doing here?" He wipes the back of his hand across his sweaty forehead.

"Alby said you put me in for this job?" I smirk at him and blush a little.

"Yes, sorry I forgot to tell you" he hands me a large digging spade from next to him. "Have fun" he laughs at me.

I did a hole right next to his and even though he has been here longer mine is deeper than his, "wow your pretty good at this, are you trying to impress me or something?" Winking at me.
"Nope I'm just stronger than you!" I giggle.
We carry on digging and talking for a few hours until the lunch bell rings.

"What is that for?" I say when the ringing of the bell stops.

"Lunch!" He says with a big smile across his face, putting his spade down, "Come on we can finish this after lunch!" He grabs my hand and we walk to the pit, still holding my hand, Newt pulls me down to sit next to him and Chuck. I didn't want to let go of his soft, warm hands but I had to eat with something so when we got our food I let go. Everyone talked to me during lunch asking me so many questions. It was weird being the only girl in the glade but I liked the attention.
