Maze runner (love story with newt)

Newbie

Almost a month has gone by since I came to the glade. I'm still working for the track-hoes and I spend every single day with Newt. We're inseparable, I know that I have feelings for him and I'm ready to tell him, I just need to wait for the perfect moment to tell him how I really feel.

"Good morning sunshine!" Newt knocks on the door and comes straight in and sits on the end of my bed.

"Morning..." I yawn for so long and when I open my eyes fully he's smiling at me. "WHAT?" I jump out of bed and throw some clothes onto my pillow.

"Nothing" he laughs really hard and try's to reenact my long weird yawn and I couldn't help but laugh so hard that we both ended up on the floor holding our stomachs in pain from laughing too much.

"stop....it...." trying to get the words out of my mouth.

"Ok. I'm sorry" he gets up off the floor and holds his hand out for me, I grab his hand and he helps me up. I grab my clothes off my bed "Ok I'm going to get dressed now." He stands there waiting for me still. Confused. "Privacy please!" I point at the door.

"Oh yeh right, sorry" he walks out and looked back as me as he shuts the door with a cute smile on his face. I honestly didn't want him to leave.

I got dressed and walked over to the track-hoes, Newt was there as always with a big smile on his face, he's so cute.

After a few hours of digging we heard the box come up, it's now been a full month since I've been here, it feels like it's been years. I grab Newts hand and we run towards the box. "Happy 1 month bestie" I turn around and smile at him and he smiles back. "Ivy! Slow down! I'm going to trip over" he breathes heavily and so I stop and say "Am I really that fast?" I really want to be a runner but I've never thought about talking about this with Newt before so I though that maybe this could be my chance.

"Yeah, for a second there I thought you could be a runner" he looks down at the floor.

"A second?" I feel like he doesn't believe in me. I then let go of his hand but then he snatched it back, he stares into my eyes, he's never looked at me this way before I was worried about what he was going to say.

"You can't be a runner!" He pulls me closer. "I can't loose you..." Chuck then runs past with Gally.
"Hurry up, the box is here." They run over to everyone else surrounding it.

"Come on" I brush his hair out of his face and spin around still holding his hand. We run over to the box and push to the front. Newt and Gally jump down to try and calm the boy down. I felt so relieved that it wasn't a girl, I had been thinking about it for the last week, I didn't want to loose him to another girl.

The boy looked so scared and it reminded me of how I felt the first day I came to the glade. I was so frightened but I was so lucky to have Newt to look after me. He still does.

All the boys were looking at him and laughing making the boy more scared so I shouted at them, "STOP LAUGHING RIGHT NOW!" All the boys looked at me and they seemed scared of me and all said "yes...ma'me" all at the same time. I jump down next to Newt and Gally, who is glaring at me. "Are you ok?" I look at the boy who looked so frightened, I wanted to help since the boys didn't really give a good first impression to him.

"NO! WHERE AM I?" He got up and out of the box and started running, some of the runners started running after him. Newt looked at me and as if we were reading each others minds I step onto his hand and he lifts me up out of the box. I start running and I was running so fast, I caught up to the runners and ran past Minho, the fastest in the whole glade and I grab the boy. "HEY STOP! Please!" He trips over and looked around him. "Your safe here, trust me." I put out my hand and he takes it and stands up, Newt comes running over and looks at us holding hands, he takes my hand away from the newbie and holds it himself. I couldn't help but smile a little bit. "My name is Ivy, do you know your name yet?" He looks at me so confused trying to get the words out of his mouth. He looked absolutely terrified. Gally came running over, "Alright newbie, you can leave this to us now" he steps towards me trying to make me scared but I'm not scared of him anymore, he's been a slinthead ever since I met him. He thinks I have something to do with us all being in the glade, but even if I did, I wouldn't remember. That's what makes me scared. "Slim it Gally" Newt stands in front of me. "I'll give him a tour now so you two go back to your jobs" I could tell he was mad so I go back to the track-hoes and carry on digging.

It's been a while and the newbie seems like he is fitting in already. He's talking to Newt against a bench around the fire pit, I hate not being able to spend time with Newt but as he is second in-command I need to accept that once a month he has to look after the newbies. That's his job.

I walk over and sit next to Newt and the newbie, "Hi, how are you?" I talk to both of them when I say this.

"We're good thanks Ivy, I'm just talking to him about the maze." He looked a bit upset and I didn't know what was wrong, he never calls me by my real name. I didn't want to end the night on a bad note so I asked "can we talk Newt? Please?" We both get up.
"CHUCK!" I call Chuck over to sit with the newbie so he isn't alone and then Newt and I walk back to my room to talk.

"Newt what's wrong?"
