Prompt: Soren and Enya were separated for several years for reasons they couldn't help. They finally find each other and have a heartfelt reunion.
Setting: Post season 3, marriage between Enya and Soren never happened

"Welcome home Mo Stoirín!" Damian cries as he hugs his daughter tightly. "I wasn't expecting you home for another year!"
"Well I certainly couldn't stay away that long, five years apart has been long enough." Enya laughs as she hugged her father back tightly. "Where's Amaya? I miss my fluffy little lady!"
"Ever since you left for Duren, she's been glued to Ezran and Callum's side. She really missed you, though she wasn't the only one moping around the castle for a month."
"Let me guess, a certain soldier I've known since we were kids?"
Damian chuckles. "I think he missed you more than Callum and Ezran did. He should be on break right about now if you wanna see him."
As tempted as she was to go see her old friend - no she shouldn't call him that anymore, after what happened on their way to the Spire and what occurred before they went to fight Viren's new army, it didn't feel right to call him a friend anymore. Perhaps she should wait a bit before going to see him, maybe after she settled down and he was off duty for the night.
"Later, I should unpack first and then go find Amaya." Enya finally tells her father. "And I just want to rest my feet as well."
"Suit yourself." Damian says with a shrug.

"Hey, where is Amaya?" Soren asks Ezran as the young king was writing something down on a sheet of parchment with one hand while attempting to rub Bait's belly with the other. "She's normally in here sulking with you."
"She's not sulking anymore." Ezran responds. "She's with Enya, she just got back home earlier today."
"SHE'S BACK FROM DUREN ALREADY?!" Soren exclaims, earning an annoyed croak from Bait. "Why didn't anyone tell me?!"
"You were on duty at the time, I think. You can go see her right now if you want, she's probably well rested by now and planning on going to see you later."
"Should...should I go see her right now? Or wait later?"
"You can go check if she's not busy. But knowing her, she probably decided to work on whatever things her dad needed help fixing or adjusting."
"I think...I think I'll go see her now." Soren says, hoping Enya would be free for the time being.
"Good luck." Ezran responds absently before looking up from his writing. "Come to think of it, what is your relationship now anyways? You two had been writing letters for the last few years, and I have noticed every time you got a letter from Enya you'd have this gushy look on your face that looked like the one Callum would wear around Rayla."
"I don't!" Soren gasps. "When have you ever seen me make that same weird face your brother makes?"
"Two months ago, your face went as red as Bait when he gets mad. Did Enya write something blush worthy?"
"Th-that's none of your business!"
"I bet it was very blush worthy." Ezran says with a grin as Soren turns to briskly walk to the door. "Tell her to join us in the dining room tomorrow, we'll have jelly tarts to celebrate her return!"
Damn it, damn it, damn it! Soren inwardly groans as he slams the door behind him and buries his face in his hands, praying it wasn't as red as he thought. Calm down, calm down. You can't go see her with your face like this, just count to twenty and think calm thoughts.
After taking deep breaths and counting, Soren pulled his face from his hands before removing his sword from its scabbard to examine his reflection. Okay his face wasn't red anymore, which was good at least. Maybe he should do something about his hair, maybe rush back to his room and give himself a quick shave to get rid of the stubble he was attempting to grow out to see if he could get a beard-
"Soren? Is that you?" Soren literally felt his heart leap and immediately turned to see the one girl he hadn't seen in six years standing a few feet from him. Enya really hadn't changed that much, though Soren was quite sure she had grown a bit taller and her hair was longer as well.
"H-hey, you're back." He manages to say as he quickly puts his sword away. "I was just on my way to see you just-" Soren was cut off when Enya practically ran and threw herself at him before he felt her lips crash against his. He felt his own arms wrap around her waist to hold her close before they broke the kiss moments later.
"I missed you, ya big goof." Enya whispers as she wrapped her arms around his neck. "I couldn't wait another year to return home."
"I probably would have traveled all the way to Duren to see you myself if I wasn't bound to my duties." Soren says with a soft laugh before he gently pressed his forehead against hers. "Though I was hoping the first thing you did as soon as you came back was kiss me."
"I couldn't leave my father waiting, as much as I love you, my father always comes first." Enya laughs and Soren feels his heart flutter. She had always said she loved him in her letters, but hearing her say them out loud like this just made him feel just as giddy as he did the first time she ever said it to him after the battle of the Spire.
"Fair point, I can't ever take your dad's place." He agrees before gently pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Since I'm off duty, how about we do something fun, like go on a proper date for starters?"
"Sounds like a plan, if dinner and jelly tarts are involved."
"Oh you bet jelly tarts will be involved."
