Prompt: Soren tries to surprise Enya with breakfast in bed for her birthday and Valentine's day, though things don't go as planned

Setting: Post-season 3

---

"Happy birthday!" Soren exclaims happily before he gives Enya a quick kiss on the cheek as she is waking up. "I gotcha something tasty!"

"Wait what?" Enya asks as she sits up. "Is...is it that day already?"

"Of course it is!" Soren laughs as he tries smoothing down her messy bedhead. "And it's Valentine's day too, so you know what that means!"

"Ah...you're going to be even more affectionate today?" Enya asks and he nods. "Well you've been pretty affectionate since we married, so there's no need to be overly affectionate on this day."

"I insist, it's our first valentine's day together as a couple and I want it to be special." Soren says as Enya gives a yawn. "And it's your birthday as well, I wanna make it special since you made mine special by giving me a baby dragon."

"Speaking of Tart, where is that little colored raspberry rascal?" Enya asks, looking to the foot of the bed where Amaya was asleep. "She's not curled up with Amaya."

"Wait she's supposed to be here." Soren says with a frown as he looked over the side of the bed. "Wait a minute - Tart spit that out!"

Enya looks over the side of the bed where Soren was now crouched and trying to pull something out from under it before yanking out Tart, whose mouth was bloody red and covered with some crumbs. "Oh, what did she eat?"

"Your birthday jelly tarts!" Soren exclaims as the baby dragon happily licks her lips and gives a little chirp. "Bad girl! You weren't supposed to eat all of those yourself, that was your mother's breakfast!"

"Aw don't scold her, who couldn't resist strawberry jelly tarts?" Enya says with a laugh as she takes the little dragon from his grasp and cradles her. "Were those tarts good little Tart? Taste testing them to make sure they were at least good enough for mama?"

Tart gives another chirp and wags her little tail happily before climbing out of Enya's arms and jumping back onto the bed to climb onto Amaya before she proceeds to try and kneed her with her paws.

"She knew those weren't for her," Soren mutters with a frown, earning himself a laugh and a kiss on the cheek from his wife.

"It was a nice surprise A mhuirnín, and it's sweet that you wanted to surprise me with breakfast in bed," Enya says as her husband joins her back in the bed, still sulking. "Oh come on, enough sulking. It's my birthday, you shouldn't be so sulky, Soren."

"We were gonna have tarts in bed, I warned her not to eat them when I left to go tell my second-in-command I'm having the day off," Soren mutters, casting the now sleeping dragonet. "Where does she get this disobedience from? Certainly not from Amaya."

"Maybe from a certain soldier who leaves his post to go give his wife some smooches?" Enya suggests teasingly, making Soren blush. "You know we can always get more, right? How about I get dressed, and since you have the day off and my father always makes me take the day off on my birthday, we can both go get some jelly tarts together. And since today looks nice, we can have a picnic as well."

"Well let's hope it doesn't rain while we're out getting jelly tarts - again." Soren jokes, the memory of the little incident that happened on his wife's birthday last year. He had accompanied her on a quick trip to the bakery for some pastries when it suddenly began to rain after making the joke of how funny it would be if it started raining at that moment. Luckily, he had his cape with him and managed to keep Enya and the pastries from getting too wet, but that caused him to fall sick the next day. The upside to that was that Enya spent the whole day caring for him and spoon-feeding him some special soup she and her father would make if any of their friends would get sick.

"If you jinx that again, I'm going to make you sleep in another room." His wife scolds, sharply smacking him on the nose with her finger. "Now come on, we have some pastries to get and I don't want to be hangry until lunchtime."
