Prompt: Soren is a barista who purposely write's Enya's name wrong on her order

Setting: modern au

---

"Okay this is getting annoying." Enya mutters as she turns her cup to where her name was scribbled. "It's spelled E-N-Y-A, not that hard."

The barista who had taken her order, a rather tall and muscular blonde man her age, gave her a playful grin. "Is it? Could have sworn it was Elmo."

"Ass." Enya mutters under her breath before turning to storm back to the table she and her friends were having their study group. "What's that guy's deal anyways?"

"What are you talking about?" Kasef asks, looking up from his laptop. "Is that barista giving you problems? I'll gladly give him a piece of my mind if that's the case."

"Calm down, you're gonna get us kicked out of here." Crowmaster says, putting a hand on his shoulder when Kasef starts to get up. "Last thing we need is to get banned from somewhere because you broke someone's nose."

"The only problem is this." Enya says as she puts her cup to the middle of the table and turns it to show the others. "He keeps spelling my name wrong or putting a completely different name that starts with an E. At first I thought it was an honest mistake or he was dyslexic, but now he's just being an ass."

"Why Elmo?" Crowmaster asks with a small frown, earning a snort from Kasef.

"Beats me."

"Wait, I think I know what's going on." Kasef says, trying not to laugh. "My girlfriend knows a guy who worked at a coffee shop, he used to do this with this one dude he developed a crush on to get him to come back to the counter, talk and laugh over it. And because of that, they're dating now."

"I fail to see how that's funny." Enya says with a frown.

"And everyone says I don't even have a sense of humor." Kasef chuckles before closing his laptop. "Look, if he's doing it to get your attention because he likes you, he's finally gotten it. If not, then he's just being an ass for some unknown reason. Maybe go talk to him about it."

"If it's the latter case, then we can leave and go somewhere else to study and work on our homework." Crowmaster suggests. "I think he's friends with Corvus, pretty sure I saw the two hanging out on the campus together. I think his name is...Soren?"

"Fine, but if he's being an ass we leave."

Enya gets out of her seat and walks back over to the counter where the barista from earlier is busy wiping down the counter, quietly humming and whistling to himself before she smacks the small bell near the register to get his attention.

"Can I help you?" He asks politely before he realizes who she is. "Ah."

"Why do you keep putting my name wrong on the cup?" Enya asks. "You've taken my friend's orders and their names are spelled just fine."

"Would you believe me if I told you I was too stunned by your heavenly presence to spell right?" The barista asks, giving her that same playful grin from earlier, only this time Enya was sure she saw his cheeks looking a little more pinker than earlier. "My brain tends to short wire and causes me to misspell someone's name if I am stunned by them."

"Oh my god that's so cheesy." Enya mutters, glancing back at her friends who were failing to act like they weren't watching the entire time. Damn it, it's like Ella and Reyna were accompanying her, they certainly have rubbed off them. "Okay enough beating around the bush. Are you doing this just to get my attention because you like me?"

She hears a loud "oh my god" Crowmaster followed by a laugh, before turning her head to see her friends trying not to laugh.

"Was...was that a bit obvious?" The barista asks, and Enya turns her attention back to him to see him now looking slightly flustered.

"It certainly was now that my friend mentioned the possibility," Her eyes fall on the name tag he wore on his apron that read "SOREN", before she gives him her own cheeky grin. "Siren."

"It's Soren."

"Is it? Could have sworn it was Siren."

This earns her a surprise look from the barista before it dawned on him what she was doing. He cracks a smile and gives a small laugh. "Okay you got me there."

"You know, you could have been a bit more obvious with your flirting. I've been told I'm a bit too oblivious when someone tries hitting on me and my friends have teased me for it too many times." Enya laughs. "But then again what could you have done that wouldn't come off as creepy?"

"Definitely not scribbling my name and number on the bottom or side of your cup, or adding extra whipped cream to your hot chocolate." The barista, Soren, laughed. "Or flat out making it obvious. I was just trying to be funny, and it's a bit hard to try and scramble a name with just four letters. Isn't that the name of a singer who sang some songs for Lord of the Rings?"

"Yeah, though my parents named me after my dad's grandmother. His family was big on giving their kids nice Irish names since a lot of my ancestry was from there, apparently it was to feel more connected to the place."

"Mine's apparently Danish, though neither of my parents or their families are from Denmark."

"Soren, you're still on duty! You can flirt with the customer later when your shift is over!" They hear someone say before a man with short pale hair pokes his head out of the kitchen area. "Sorry about that, he can be a bit of a pain."

"Gee thanks Ethari." Soren mutters as Enya quietly grabs a napkin from the dispenser near the register and hurries back to her table to grab a pen before walking back to the counter.

"Here, if you're still interested." She says as she scribbles something down on the napkin and pushes it towards Soren. "Now if you go excuse me, I still have to study."

"Smooth, that was smooth." Crowmaster laughs as Enya walks back to the table and gets back in her seat. "Oh man Ella is gonna lose it when she hears about this."

"I already told Reyna and she's absolutely going nuts over it." Kasef says, holding his phone up to show them the multiple messages from his girlfriend. "I'm sure she's spammed your messages demanding to know everything."

"I'll tell them later." Enya says with a roll of her eyes before she pulls her laptop out of her book bag and flips it open. "We have studying to do if we wanna graduate this semester."
