Jaehyun
I didn't let Soyoung's silence faze me. I continued my attempt to talk to her, she kept on ignoring me at first like these past few days but eventually, after a few tries, Soyoung's regard for me improved. She doesn't walk away anymore whenever I'm inside the same room with her, she has also started to eat meals with me again. But she still doesn't talk to me.
I was sleeping under the tree one afternoon. I had nothing left to do since I'd already finished almost every book on the shelves in the study room. So I stayed here instead and decided to just sleep. I was lying on my side, head against my folded arm when I woke up and found Soyoung lying beside me, facing me, her head also resting on her arm.
We stayed there lying under the scattered light, watching each other in silence.
"Why are you pushing me away Soyoung?"
"I need to before things come to worse"
"Why?"
"Because you're going to leave, just like Min Seok. You can not stay here" she said, lifting a hand to my cheek. "I'm afraid to fall Jaehyun when there's nothing for me to land on," she said and smiled. Her finger caressed my cheek.
"Why are you afraid?"
"We're all afraid of many things Jaehyun. I'm afraid to be left alone again. I once trusted my happiness to one person and look what it got me. I'm not strong Jaehyun, I couldn't do it again"
I lifted my hand to hers and clutch it in mine.
"Then I have one request before I go"
"What is it?"
"Go out on a date with me tonight"
