Roman's point of view
Roman sighed as he sat by a river and stared up at the blue sky. He had been excited about their plan but they had been on the road for a week and had yet to reach the castle. He had expected there to be knights or something that would bar their path to victory but nothing had happened. The people didn't even seem to care that there was a war. Roman huffed and received a gentle kick to his chest.
"Stop pouting." Logan snapped. "We are behind schedule because you had to save a damsel in distress." Roman rolled his eyes at the nerd. They had stopped in a town to restock supplies a few days before. While Logan and Patton picked out the supplies he was left to watch the horses. A woman tripped and spilled her groceries on the cobblestone road so naturally the knight had stopped to help. The moment he did a thief snatched their horses and he gave chase. The culprit was caught but they had lost daylight. Roman groaned just to spite Logan
"I thought we'd be there by now." He whined, "I thought going on an adventure meant that there would be action."
"You had your action when you caught the horse thief." Logan prodded his side "get up, we need to keep going."
"But it's boring!"
"Roman, be a dear and get up." Patton called "we need to get going or you'll never get any action." Roman jumped to his feet and ran over to his horse. Logan rolled his eyes at the knight's antics, he was so juvenile.
"I'm beginning to regret this." Logan huffed. They were tired from the trip and were getting on each other's nerves. Roman hated how Logan was always telling him what to do, he knew exactly what he had to do. Patton seemed to be the only one not annoyed. The baker hummed to himself as he mounted the horse, after a week of practice he had figured how to get on and off without looking like a bumbling oaf. Roman smiled at his friend, he was proud of his progress.
"What are we waiting for, destiny awaits!" He called, sliding onto the horse behind Patton. Logan grumbled behind them as he too mounted his horse and they continued their trip. They traveled until the sky grew too dark to continue and they stopped for the night. Each man began to do their chores and soon the camp was set up. They had two tents that sat close to the fire and a log that Roman had found was placed opposite the tents. The fir was in the center of the camp and the three sat around it as their food cooked.
"We need to go over the plan before we reach the castle," Logan spoke up and Roman groaned
"What is there to plan? We go in we find some dusty old books and we get out." Roman waved his hands around as he spoke. They had gone over the plan every night since they left the Variegate Kingdom.
"Yes, you have made that part especially clear." Logan groaned as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "However, the part that is unclear is how we will enter the castle undetected." Patton raised his hand and Roman noticed him trying to talk but he was busy arguing with Logan.
"How is that unclear?" He scoffed "it is as clear as crystal."
"There will be guards, knights, the king and there is a rumor they have a mage on their side." Logan listed
"I have fought plenty of so-called mages, they are easy."
"Not the point, Roman. We have to be prepared."
"How many plans actually survive first contact with the enemy?"
"Few but that is why we must have multiple plans."
"What is the point of planning if the plan will fail?"
"You are an idiot," Logan grumbled into his hands
