:) Patton's Point of View :)

Patton walked the halls of the dark castle nervously. Their plan had gone well in the beginning, they made it past the gate and into the castle without any difficulties. Once inside they ran into an issue. The three were doing their best to avoid the people in the castle but it wasn't easy and when they turned a corner they came face to face with a knight of the castle. The knight was standing outside two large doors and standing next to him was a servant of some sort. Roman and Logan spoke to the knight but Patton wasn't paying attention to them. He frowned as he took in the servant, his face was covered in bruises and any time someone moved he would flinch. Patton couldn't put a finger on it but he knew something was wrong and that the man needed help.

"I hate dragon duty." the knight spat and Patton's heart nearly broke when the servant next to him shrunk away from the man. More than anything Patton wanted to hug the man but he couldn't, they had to keep their cover. Suddenly the doors opened and another knight stepped out

"The king is ready for the urchin." the man boredly called then his eyes landed on Patton and his friends. Patton wanted to hide from the gaze, the man stared at them coldly "Oh perfect, the king also wishes for all knights to gather in the throne room for the war council." Patton swallowed as he realized what that meant, the king wanted Logan and Roman there too, well, who they were impersonating.

"Shouldn't someone stay outside to protect the king?" Logan tried to reason but his suggestion was quickly shot down.

"There is nothing to worry about when we have this whelp here." One knight stated, punching the servant on his shoulder. Patton did his best to hide his concern when the man nearly fell over from the punch, he was so thin.

"The king is not a very patient person. Into the throne room. Now!" the knight at the door commanded and everyone began to move. Logan took Patton by the shoulder

"Patton, go find out as much as you can, we'll meet in the courtyard in three hours," Logan whispered

"Be safe ok?" Roman asked and Patton nodded then ran away from his friends. A knot grew in his throat as he rushed away, he was alone now. He wandered the castle opening random doors, searching for the library. He finally found the library in the west tower. The room was filled with dust and it was obvious not many people entered it. Patton skimmed book titles as he searched for anything that could be useful. There were many books in other languages, they were probably books that the king had gained in his conquests. Patton came to a stop when he found a book that looked well worn. He pulled it out and frowned, the title claimed it was about a long-dead race known as the dragon witches. Patton opened to the first page and tilted his head as he tried to read it. The book was full of ancient runes and words that he didn't recognize. Patton smiled slightly as he remembered how much Roman loved magic and adventure. He knew he was only there for information on the enemy but he still slid the large tome into his satchel. Maybe Roman would be able to read it. Patton then continued his search until he finally found a tome that read "History of the Dark Kingdom" he pulled the book off the shelf and tucked it into his bag next to the one about dragons. Patton turned to leave the library, he had found a few other useful scrolls and was sure he had enough information to help them protect the Variegate kingdom. He was about to leave when a knight entered the room. Patton jumped behind a bookshelf and held his breath.

"Stupid dragon!" the man huffed as he placed some scrolls onto a table "couldn't he have just done as he was told." the man grumbled some more then sighed and left the room. Patton headed for the door but stopped when his gaze landed on the scrolls, he couldn't help but wonder what they held. He walked over to the scrolls and opened them, reading them quickly. What he read caused him to gasp, the scrolls held the king's battle plans for the upcoming war. Patton stuffed the scrolls into his bag then rushed out of the room. He ran through the halls, doing his best to remember how he had gotten there. As he turned a corner he ran into someone and fell over.
