&& The Dark Castle &&
The king paced back and forth in front of his throne. The room was empty and his footsteps echoed off the stone walls. His soldiers had just informed him that they had yet to catch the spies. He clenched his fist in frustration as he glowered at the wall. The spies had waltzed into his castle, taken his war plans, and then kidnapped his dragon witch. He wouldn't have been too upset about the war plans, war plans change, however, he was angry that they had also taken one of the last known dragon eyes. The dragon eye was priceless and he had to fight many battles just to find it. He let out a huff and plopped down onto his throne, he was surrounded by incompetence. He sighed into his hand as he closed his eyes, why was this so hard? All he ever wanted to do was unify the nations under one king... himself. He sat brooding for some time as he tried to strategize how to capture the spies. An idea entered his head and he stood quickly. He stormed to the large doors that lead into his throne room and threw them open. The two guards that stood at the entrance flinched back then bowed quickly
"Sire," one spoke and he glowered
"Send for a mercenary!" he ordered and both guards straightened
"Which one?"
"The best and most merciless," he commanded then walked back into his throne room to continue planning.
Hours later the king sat on his throne studying maps when the throne room doors were flung open. A man strutted in with a sickly grin on his face and a mace resting on his shoulder. The man wore black leather armor with accents of neon green and silver. He had dark brown hair with a silver streak in his bangs and green eyes.
"Good morning Mr king, got anyone you need me to massacre?" he drawled with a giggle at the end. The king looked up from his map in annoyance
"Ah yes, the mercenary I summoned." he monotoned, the man in green cackled
"Come now, I've worked for you before. You know my name." he teased as he sat down on the table of maps.
"Hello Duke." the king finally greeted as he straightened, leaning back in his throne.
"What job do you got for me?" Duke asked as he tilted his head to the side at an angle that couldn't possibly be comfortable. The king smirked
"I do hope you brought your insatiable appetite for violence." he hummed and Duke perked up
"Do I get to kill people?!" he gasped, jumping off the table of maps. The maps fluttered to the ground and the king watched them for a moment before looking back up at Duke
"I have an issue, about a week ago spies entered my castle and stole something precious from me..." he trailed off then he carefully spoke the next words "I need you to hunt them down and take it back." he hissed angrily. Duke grinned, a silver glow began to grow in his eyes.
"Well that's easy as eating moldy bread!" he hummed. He was about to turn and leave to begin the task when the king cleared his throat
"I have a map of their previous locations." Duke spun back around
"That would make my job easier." he grinned but the grin turned into a frown as he noticed the look the king was giving him. The king was looking at him icily. "What?"
"They have someone with them... someone you know well." The king trailed off while Duke began to glower
"Who?"
"The dragon witch." Duke's face changed quickly back to being cheery
"Oh! That's going to be so much fun!" he giggled as he swiped the map from the king "I'll be back with all of their heads on a silver platter." he hummed as he left the throne room. Just before he reached the door his smile fell to one of mischief "Haha, I'm coming for you Virgey." he hummed as he left.
