Mapleshade skidded to a halt at the top of a slope, "RogueClan has betrayed us!" She sneered. Larch narrowed his eyes, "why have they?" He felt sick to his stomach, Petal was in RogueClan! "They've been stealing OUR prey!" Larch felt overshadowed by his own mother, his heart sank. "What about Petal?" He whimpered. "That doesn't matter, do you want to eat?" Mapleshade curled her lip, he felt smaller. "Well, yeah-" "good, then shut your darn muzzle, and listen!" Larch sniffed,
"so sorry..."
Mapleshade sat on her haunches.
"We will start a battle...in one moon." Larch whimpered, Patch's eyes filled with water.
"But...she's our sister!"
He protested. Mapleshade screwed her face, "does that matter?" Patch dropped his head. "No, ma'am," he slowly answered, we have to stop this battle, no matter how long it takes!
He thought. That night, Larch couldn't sleep, he had a lump in his throat he couldn't swallow. He saw that his brother was sitting and shedding water time to time, "Patch, should we warn Petal without Mapleshade knowing?" Patch turned his head, "that's exactly what I was thinking, but if we have to go, we have to go now." Larch nodded and without thinking, they slipped into the RogueClan territory. Larch hoped Petal was awake, "Petal? Petal?" the she-cat opened her eyes, "Larch, Patch? What're you doing here?" she lifted her head.
"We were here to warn you about the upcoming battle, be prepared and warn your clanmates." Petal nodded. "Right, I'm ready,"
Larch's heart thumped, "our mother is going against you." He meowed. "She is?" her amber eyes glowed, "yes... But we promise to show her that you are special." Petal touched noses with him, "I'm glad I have brothers like you."
