Patchstar sighed. He looked down at his kits. He still couldn't believe his mate Destiny was dead. "oh, Destiny." he stood up, and flicked his tail.

He walked out of the den, Mapleshade still peircing his soul.

The tortoiseshell she-cat had stolen lives!

He wanted to claw Mapleshade's fur off, but still, Mapleshade was his own mother.

He didn't want to harm her, but at the same time he wished she were dead.

His eyes strained, as if he could still make out the hidious sight of Mapleshade curling inside-out.

He walked across camp, seeing his clanmates sharing tongues.

Patchstar thought of his siblings, the only cats who were good.

He thought of his father too, he remembered the bitter lies Appledusk did.

But also thought of the bitter lies his mother told them, pretending to hunt, but really hunting down and killing innocent cats.

How could he defeat Mapleshade if he was as weak as a skull.

But he thought about how far he's gone, he was prepared for a big battle coming.

He looked up at the sky.

we're ready to fight you, end this for good.

Patchstar grinned, I'll avenge you, Destiny, I promise.

The dark forest would pay for what they did.

He unsheathed his claws, then drew a base shape of Mapleshade.

Patchstar felt rage burn inside of him.

He raised a claw, but started crying. This was his mother, the one who took care of him.

So he lowered a paw and wiped the tears from his eyes.

"it's my fault your evil!" he widened his eyes.

Petal yelled that. "no it wasn't!" Larch insisted. "it was!"

Patchstar tried to calm him down. "it's okay, it wasn't your fault."

"you don't know that!" "you'll see!"

"paws off!" he felt the strangest feeling that Petal would be evil!
