if Mapleshade's kits lived

chapter 20: "too much blood has been spilled..."

"it's right here," Larch told Petal, "okay..." Petal stepped into the lavenders. "can't the moonstone do---?" Petal's eyes grew baggy and she fell to the ground, asleep. "you go first," Patchstar meowed,

"alright," Patchstar looked over his shoulder to see if Destiny hadn't followed him. Then he layed onto the lavender and fell asleep. Patchstar opened his eyes, and blinked dust from them.

this is the dark forest-- he gasped, seeing Destiny's body laying limp, blood poured around her. Mapleshade was above Destiny, her paws covered in blood.

"NO!!" Patchstar leaned against Destiny. you were so beautiful, I'm so sorry! Patchstar heard mewing next to Destiny, he ignored it at first, but the mewing came again. Patchstar poked his head down at the grass, seeing two kits, with almost hairless fur, one was orange-and-white like him, and the other was red like Destiny.

"it's okay, I'm here,"

he picked up the two kits by the scruff. goodbye, Destiny, I promise to take care of our kits. he heard a gasp from Larch. "what happened to you?" Patchstar remembered the sliced belly open and the kits squealing for help. Patchstar skidded from the other dark forest cats and dug a hole as fast as he could until it turned into a den-like hole,

he brought the two kits in and charged out of the den. "MAPLESHADE! YOU KILLED DESTINY!!!" Mapleshade got up. "that stupid she-cat was in my way," "SHE DIDN'T DESERVE TO DIE!!!" Mapleshade grinned. "you know I love you, Patchstar."

she brushed against Patchstar. "you never show it," Patchstar hissed. "you killed my mate, and now I'm alone to raise her kits."

Mapleshade grinned. "I'm going to kill those kits," "DON'T OR ELSE I WILL KILL YOU!!!" Mapleshade was already skidding away from him and ready to kill the kits. Patchstar jumped on Mapleshade's back and sank his teeth into her scruff. Mapleshade let out a gurgling sound and she fell to the ground, limp.

I-I killed her....oh no....

"Patchstar--" Larch looked at Mapleshade's body. "what happened?" Patchstar lead Larch into the den. "you killed her?" Patchstar nodded and wrapped his tail around the kits. "w-what? I thought the kits were dead." "no. They're alive." Patchstar yowled a retreat, cats starting yowling and spitting out of cat's grips. too much blood has been spilled...
