Patchstar padded up to Larch, neck soar from the fox trap, "Patchstar? I told you to stay in your den!" he hissed. Patchstar shrugged, "Relax, it's just soar, while I was dead, Reedshine showed me Mapleshade...with this mysterious kit named...er Stormkit, by the way, she TWISTED his jaw." Larch backed away, "Are you sure it was Mapleshade?" he paused, but then looked at his own pelt.

"she had my pelt shade," Larch stepped back a little more, "well, we have to find her and convince her to go back to StarClan." Patchstar's legs shook, "was she ever in StarClan?" was my promise to being like her fatal? Larch froze in his place, "we have to ask her, come on, roll in lavender," Patchstar narrowed his eyes, "lavender?" Larch nosed the purple flowers,

"I see it work on our barn twolegs all the time, they get this lavender, then have their kits hold it to help them fall asleep, if it works on them, it probably works on us too." Patchstar shrugged his shoulders and joined his brother in the lavender. Rosepaw stepped forward, "what are you doing?" Patchstar rolled over on his back, "er, we need to sleep, and...dream about....er, StarClan, we need to talk to them." Rosepaw tipped her head to one side, "o-okay," she turned and padded away.

Sleep waved into his eyes, making him close them. Patchstar creaked them open, Larch was also asleep,

more cold darkness swarmed around him. "Larch, wake up, we're here." Larch shook and stretched his long limbs. "I'm awake, but--where's Mapleshade?" Patchstar looked around, blood stained the leaves and trees around them.

"er, let look around, surely we should find her soon." Larch lifted his chin to sniff the air, "I smell her, but there's so much blood I could---wait, I also smell....PETAL!!!" Patchstar backed away, "her? but she's expecting kits!" Larch took another sniff, "maybe she went there by accident," he guessed. "is she injured?" Larch studied,

"no," he replied, "not so far." Patchstar signaled with his tail to fight as he heard a yowl from Mapleshade.

"I found her," he hissed, Larch drew back his broad head and leaped at the tortoiseshell she-cat, slamming her head into the earth.

Mapleshade regained her footing and sat on her haunches, grinning. Petal stood beside them, "why did you call us here?" Larch commanded, Mapleshade's grin was like ice, "you fought well, darlings," Patchstar winced.

"yyyeah, have you've been spying on us?" Mapleshade narrowed her eyes, "maybe I HAVE been, have you thought of what being evil is about?" Larch answered at once, "NO, WHY ARE YOU ASKING THIS?!" Patchstar agreed by a sharp nod of his head. "Petal?" the queen winced, and clenched her jaws, "if it means a better place of taking care of my kits, then I accept your training." Patchstar jerked his head,

"no, Petal, don't accept!" Petal closed her eyes, "this is our mother, Patchstar, Larch, and I'll trust her with my life, I'm expecting kits, and if you're not satisfied, then let me just say this, let me do MY own choices." Larch stomped his paw down, "FINE, if you ac-" the ground shook, "w-what's--" Patchstar was broke off as a hole dug him and Larch in, "Petal, Mapleshade!" they almost called for help but the hole was deeper.
