Aiden's POV
"This is the place" Ty calls out, pulling into a pretty old apartment complex. I look out the window, searching my mind for any remembrance of this place. "Aiden" Adam says, waking me from my thoughts. I turn my head up to face him and realize that he was holding open my door for me to exit. "Oh. Sorry" I mutter, climbing out. Adam chuckles behind me, closing my door while I follow Ty up the stairs. 'Please don't be that bad. Please don't be that bad' my mind wishes as we progress our way to the apartment.
Before long, Ty stops in front of a random door, pulling out a key. "What did you guys just decide to buy this place?" I question, causing Ty to stop putting the key in the door. "We bought it in hopes of finding clues to find where you were. Well I more like..." Ty replies, whispering the last part. I was confused by the changing of words but didn't think anything of it.
Ty finishes unlocking the door and slowly opens it, revealing a house of horrors. "The tab on your computer named house of horrors. This was it wasn't it?" I question getting a nod in return. My eyes traced along every wall, every blood spot, every broken beer bottle. I walk around the room until coming across a door. Just a plain wooden door with a golden knob attached. Slowly, I reach up and grab the knob, sending a wave of flashbacks through my brain.
' "If you're not going to make me dinner then you shall starve as well!" my mother screams at me, opening the dreaded wooden door then throwing me in. I fall down the stairs almost like a tumbleweed. Landing on my stomach, I refuse to move. A locking sound comes from behind me while I lay in the same position letting the excruciating pain overwhelm my body. "I'm happy your Adam friend died! At least he can have some peace and happiness without you being there to destroy everything!" my mother screams, sending tears down my cheek. Oh how I miss you Adam'
"AIDEN!" Adam calls, seeming distant but there. My eyes slowly fix on his, looking up at his face. "Honey are you alright?" he questions, holding me in his lap. Gently, he rubs his thumb along my cheek bone while holding my head easily in his hand. The other arm was snaked around my waist, holding me tightly to him. "Y-Yeah" I whisper out, looking up at him. "I remember dreaded things about that door" I say, looking from Adam's eyes to the door and back again.
"That's where I was thrown if I didn't follow mother's orders. When I was thrown through that door, I knew that I was going to be down here for at least two days. No food. No water. No reason to press on. No savior. However, that flashback had you in it" I whisper at the very end, looking up at Adam again. "What about me?" he asks, seeing hope. Yeah there could possibly be a little hope but if I can't remember who he is, how could we ever be the same? "My mom and I were talking about how she was happy you "died" and how you are probably happier now without me being there to destroy your life. After that, I remember exactly what my thoughts were...." I trail off.
Ty's interests become the better of him, forcing him to walk closer to Adam and I. "I thought about how much I missed you" I breathed. Adam's face lit up, pulling me tight to him. My heart started beating faster and faster the longer he held me. Maybe my heart remembers something my mind can't. "Do you believe us now?" Ty questions, causing me to look up at him. "Yes. I trust you. May I be taken to my room at your house Adam? Maybe a few of my things will help me remember more" I say, looking between Ty and Adam.
"Of course" Adam replies, standing while still holding me. I smile and hold on to him tighter, afraid that gravity will plummet me back to the floor. Adam chuckles before setting me down easily. We file out of the house and out to the car. My eyes can't help but to glance over at Adam. His face once torn and heartbroken was now full of hope and life. I didn't know I could have that kind of effect on someone. I inch closer and closer to Adam, taking his hand and interlocking our fingers. He looked over at me with confusion but gently smiled a loving smile. This boy sent nerves throughout my body just by glancing in my direction or even muttering my name. How was this possible? I barely know him yet I feel like he was always there.
Adam opens my door for me, letting me slide in, then closing it behind me. It was impossible to stop smiling. How could a stranger do this to me? I'm so jittery and nervous yet I have no reason to be. Ty climbs into the drivers seat while Adam hops into the passenger seat. Before I knew it, we were pulling up to a vaguely familiar house. Jumping out of the car, I glance at the house and the watery crevice behind it. This place seemed familiar. "C'mon" Adam says, wrapping his hand around my forearm, pulling me towards the door. I wince and pull my arm back, looking down at it. How did this huge cut get here? My mother could not have done this. I thought mothers are suppose to protect and love you not try to kill you and starve you. What did I do to deserve this? "I'm so sorry" Adam whispers, taking a hold of my arm gently, kissing the cut. My face shades over to the color of a cherry. How cute was this guy?
Gently, Adam takes a hold of my hand and proceeds towards the house. Ty was already at the front door unlocking it. "Let's just hope that this helps your memory a little bit" Adam wishes as Ty opens the door. "Well well well. What do we have here?" a female's voice calls from inside. For unknown reasons, I cringe at her voice. It was just a stranger. Why was I so afraid of just a stranger? Adam pulls me inside, turning instantaneously protective. "What do you mean Dawn? I finally found Aiden!" Adam says, happily. Him being so ecstatic about me makes a smile creep across my face.
"I thought I told you to start a new life. I gave you a chance to start a new life and you go against it" Dawn directs at me, hate filling every word. I look at her with a confused look until it hits me. Dawn was "D". She did warn me. I clench on to Adam's shirt tightly, fearing what these next few minutes may hold. Adam turns to face me before suddenly being pulled away. My security blanket was gone.
A unexpected blow to my face knocks me off my feet, causing me to fall back. I squeeze my eyes shut then force them back open. Fight her off Aiden. You can at least fight. I stand and glare at her. I quickly throw a punch to her jaw as she kicks my stomach. I flinch at the pain but soon return to a kick to her shins. Without realizing, she pulled up her fingers and scratched across my shoulder. I knew that it was pretty deep but I could care less. I needed to get her away from me. Speedily, I punch her across the face but was quickly backfired with a blow to the head. My vision became blurry and the sound drained from my ears. Slowly, I fell to the floor, watching the room turn to a black void.
Adam's POV
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I yell, running at Dawn. I quickly pin her to the ground and glare down at her. "Why did you do that?! What is so bad about Aiden being here?! What did you mean about her starting a new life?!" I shriek, causing Dawn to look up at me in fear. "She was getting in the way" she spits out, looking over at Aiden in fury. "Of what?!". "Me getting you back" she replies with venom. "She is the love of my life and you will never change that!" I scream. Dawn flinches at my voice but slowly replies "she deserves what's coming next. She deserved getting her memory wiped". "How the hell do you know about that?" I growl. Dawn smirks before shrugging. I shoot daggers at her, forcing an answer out of her. "You never know people until you see the identity underneath. You're so foolish Adam" Dawn replies, pushing herself out of my reach before running out of the house. Dawn was working with her mother. Her mother caused Aiden to lose her memories. It all makes since now.
I snap myself out of my thoughts, rushing over to Aiden. Ty was already kneeling over her, holding a damp, cold towel to her shoulder. When he removed it, I could see how deep the three scratches were. It was clear that she needed to be sewn up. Dawn literally mauled her arm. I wince and turn towards the bathroom. I get out a needle and thread, sterilizing it. Soon I return to her and slowly sew up the three deep gashes. After putting away the supplies, I pick her up and carry her to her room. I lightly laid her down on her bed, pulling off her blood stained t-shirt. Her black tank top seemed to be clear of any blood so I let that be. I pull up the covers and tuck her in, kissing her forehead lovingly. Please remember me soon Aiden..
"Now all we need to do is help her remember the love you two shared" Ty whispers from the doorway. I sigh and nod, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear. "She's so perfect. She doesn't deserve this pain" I reply, my eyes filling up with salt water. "I know man. From now on we can't let her be alone. One of us always has to be at her side" Ty adds, walking from the doorway and standing in front of me. "Agreed" I reply, taking her hand while running my thumb across the top of it. We'll protect you Aiden. I promise. "You really do love her huh?" he questions, looking down at her. "More than life itself" I smile, kissing her hand.
