Aiden's POV
"Aiden we don't know for sure if this is your mother. We ran some blood tests and the blood on the body is your mother's. No one else is missing in town so we assumed that it had to be your mother. Do you confirm that this body is your mother?" a doctor says from across the room, his eyes barely moving from his clipboard. My eyes were either fixed on the body or Adam's shirt from me having to look away. The corpse smelled of alcohol and her perfume, it wore clothes that my mother owned and no one else in town was missing. It had to be her. Without anymore questioning, I sign the paper confirming it. Adam took my hand and led me away from the body. I was free. She would no longer hurt me. She's gone. Part of me was happy that she was dead, the other, wanted her back holding me as if we were when I was a child. I look over at Adam and jump a bit. "How did we already get in the car?" I question, shocked. Adam erupts into laughter before pulling out of the parking lot and heading home.
"So how long is Ty going to be staying now that she's gone?" I ask, sadly. I had become really fond of Ty. I didn't want him moving back home so soon. "I have no clue honestly. Him, Tyler and I have plans together for up to a week here so that long for sure. Can you put up with three guys this week?" Adam chuckles, peeking over at me. "Are you kidding? I'm the girliest tomboy you will ever meet" I reply, smiling. Adam smirks and shakes his head, laughing. We finally arrived back at the house where we found Ty and Tyler in the office doing a "speed run" as they called it. I shrugged it off and ran into the kitchen, grabbing my guitar, then rushing back to my room. Footsteps follow after me and stop, someone standing behind me. "Aiden are you alright?" Adam questioned, quietly. I turn to face him, nodding. I stood silent before replying. "This thing just means so much to me. Any time I would go to a concert I got their signatures. This guitar alone gave me a reason to keep trying. I practiced nonstop and eventually learned to play. These names and music is the reason why I'm still here today" I reply, my voice getting a little quieter at the end.
Adam walks up to me and pulls me into a tight hug. "I'm sorry about leaving you a few years ago.. " I whisper. "Don't worry about it. You couldn't control it. I'm just happy I have you back" Adam replies, making me smile. "So I heard you say that you can play and Tyler told me about how you can sing. I think I need to hear this for myself" Adam chuckles out. I shrug knowing there was only one way I could sing for someone. I needed to be in a calm atmosphere and maybe a earphone in my ear playing the song so I can rely on it if I begin to get nervous. "Meet me out at the docks in about 5 minutes then I will" I say, smiling. He smiles back before standing and walking through the living room. I hear the back door open then shut, indicating he was walking out to the dock. I sigh and grab my headphones and look through my phone. "What's the perfect song?" I asked myself, thinking. "Just do the song from earlier. You were amazing" Tyler answered from the doorway. I jump back and look over at him. "What is up with you and scaring me?" I question, laughing. He laughs and points to my face "your face, when I scare you, is priceless". I groan and grab my guitar, walking out to the dock. Adam leaned over the edge of the dock, looking out at the water in front of him. He looked so peaceful. I smiled big and sat down, strumming the chords. The song played through my earphone. I began to sing as soon as it came to the right part. Adam didn't move an inch the whole time I sang. Did he not like my voice? Was something wrong? Did I do something? After finishing the song, I set down my guitar and look up at him. "Wow.... I had no idea that you could sing that good! Your voice is amazing!" Adam exclaims, turning around to face me. He quickly pulls me into a tight hug and spins me around. His arms around me sent shockwaves of pain throughout my body. But, I just ignored the pain. I giggle as my stomach fills with butterflies. He puts me down, his eyes never leaving mine. No. Aiden stop. You can't like him. Not like that. That would ruin everything. I smile and turn away, obeying my thoughts.
I picked up my guitar and walked with Adam back towards the house. About half way up the yard I turned around, feeling eyes attached to Adam and I. "You alright?" he questions stopping and turning to me. "Yeah" I simply answer, shrugging off the feeling, then following Adam the rest of the way up to the house. "Tyler and I will be right back. We're going to run to the store" Adam says, walking towards the table and grabbing his keys. I nod and give him a quick hug. Tyler then runs down the hallway, sliding to a stop. "You ready?" he asks, laughing. Adam chuckles and nods as they both leave the house. "AIDEN! MINECRAFT TIME!" Ty exclaimed from down the hall. I laugh and walk down the hall to the computer room. Could I be possibly making more friends?
Adam's POV
"Admit it" Tyler provokes me, sliding into the passenger seat. "What?" I question, starting the car. "You like her Adam. I can see the way you look at her and so can Ty. Also the way you spun her around on the dock then held her close looking dreamily into her eyes. Ty and I thought you two were going to kiss for a few seconds there. Your eyes light up every time you see her or even hear her name. You like her Adam" Tyler replies. "How long were you watching us?" I question, looking over at him before looking back at the road. "Just to where you two were looking at each other" he replies. "After that?" I ask, thinking this through. "No Ty and I ran back to the computer room to look like we weren't watching" he answers, looking at me confused. Walking back up to the house it felt as if someone was watching Aiden and I. She stopped halfway up so I knew she felt it too. "Adam you really do like her don't you?" Tyler asks, now becoming interested in the topic. I stayed silent. There was nothing I could say to change his mind about the truth. Nothing to change the topic that I was beginning to fall for my best friend.
