Aiden's POV
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
I gasp and suddenly lean up, looking around the room. Pain shot through me as I immediately regret leaning up so fast. I lay back down slowly still looking around the room. I wasn't in my living room anymore. I wasn't dead. I wasn't in the hands of my mother. Next to me someone clears their throat, making me jump, causing more pain to flood through my body. "OW! Who are you?! Where am I?! What happened?!" I scream, my heart starting to pace faster.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
"Shhh! No no. Calm down. Everything is alright. You're at the hospital. I'm Ty" he says, extending a hand out to me. I take it, worriedly. "How do you know me? What happened?" I mutter out. "Aiden don't freak out. You're mother abused you to the point where she broke a few ribs, burned all along your body, nearly put you into a coma. She knocked you out completely and even gave you a concussion. Everything is going to be okay now so relax. The way I know you is.. well.. I'm best friends with the one who saved you" he answers, looking me dead in the eyes. He might just be telling the truth. However, it is going take a lot for me to trust someone ever again. These past few years of my life have been excruciating.
"Who saved me?" I question. "That would be me" a voice answers as he lingers in the doorway. The shadows attached to his face, not revealing who he was. "May you come closer?" I ask, my eyes not leaving his face. Ty gets up, walking to a different chair on the other side of the room before sitting down, smirking.
"Aiden. Do you remember back in middle school?" the voice questions, not moving from his position. The flashback appears in my mind. 3 guys beating me. Names that shouldn't be spoken. Bruises. Cuts. A savior with curly brown hair. I knew this memory all to well. It was one of the best memories I had about my best friend, that supposedly is dead. "I remember" I answer, looking down then back up at the shadow. "Adam?" I question, tears slowly filling my eyes.
He steps forward and sits in the seat next to me, taking my hand gently. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I should've believed you. It's just.. my mother told me after you moved that you were in a huge accident and... died at the scene. I refused to believe it but after awhile I heard it so much and it always towered over me. So I gave in and believed it. I missed you so much Adam. No one cared about me after I moved. You were my only friend and after I moved.... I was beaten nonstop and eventually hated myself. I let her beat me. There was no way to escape so I just let her" I whisper, looking down at my lap. Adam tilts my head up so I'm looking in his eyes. "You're safe. No one will ever hurt you again" he answers as I smile a real smile for the first time in a long while.
Adam slowly leans next to my ear. "I saved you from those guys in middle school. I chased you around the school yard in elementary school. I kept you safe then and I'm going to keep you safe now because you're important to me. After you moved away I was so lonely and refused to make friends. All I wanted was you " Adam whispers before leaning back in his chair once again. My eyes teared up as I smiled a big smile. I actually mean something to someone..
