Chapter 04: Spirits all Over?! (04)

It was almost midnight when Naru let her go home. Takigawa-san, who she now called Bou-san also invite them to dinner before leaving. Of course after forcing Naru to join them. It took them a while for Bou-san to convince him and was about to give up when Mai suddenly snatched his notebook and pulled him away, leaving the base locked.

The two other guys was a bit stunned when Mai did that and was waiting for Naru to explode in rage but waited nervously nothing. They were really dumbfounded by this strange phenomenon.

Is he possessed?

"Geez. Naru, look at this wrists. Your muscles aren't even as big as half of Bou-san's. Are you eating on time? Are you even exercising? You're so thin!" Mai scolded while pulling up Naru's sleeve to show his pale arms.

It's thin but not really thin for a man. However, for Mai who had seen a lot of muscled men for a couple of years now, she consider Naru as the very 'thin' type of man. Of course, also John who has the same type of physique.

"Says the one who is thin herself. I do t want to listen to you anymore. My BMI is fine and working is my exercise." Naru grunted and pull his arm away and fix his clothes.

"Excuse me. Even if your BMI is fine, you still need to exercise and work is different! Also, my physique is just fine! I even exercise everyday and can beat you at running five hundred meter course! I was even invited to model some clothes by a known brand!"

"You? Model? With that face?"

"How dare you! Are you calling me ugly?!"

"You're the one who said that." Naru answered, not looking at the fuming brunette. Mai's look is just good-no, even more pretty than other but he just said that to annoy her.

"Gosh, Naru! I am pretty and whether or not you admit it, nothing can change that!" Mai said confidently and flipped her hair back with a conceited look but....

"Ah, even prettier than me?"

Naru's company of three was so speechless for a while and even stopped at the side of the road for a few minutes. They can also hear the crickets chirp during their silence. Mai specially couldn't speak as she blink numerous time to process what he just said. It was like her brain cells stopped working for a while until she woke up by Bou-san and John's stifled laughter.

"You narcissistic jerk!"

Fine! His face is better than mine but is he really so petty to snatch the word 'pretty' for himself?!

Mai ended up stuffing herself in anger while Naru watched her with an annoying grin on his face. Bou-san and John also had a lot of fun with Mai's company. Without noticing it, Mai had smiled and talked more that she did these couple of years.

The next morning, the Miko, Matsuzaki Ayako, invited the principal and the vice principal to the old school building to perform Norito. Mai hide herself when she saw her Math teacher, Watanabe-sensei a.k.a. the vice principal inside the old schoolhouse. Then remembered her unfinished math homework.

"I'm gonna watch in the base." Mai declared and started to sneakily walk away.

"Mai, I thought you want to watch a Shinto-style exorcism?" Bou-san asked as Mai panicked at the mention of her name! She immediately put her finger on her lips and smack Bou-san's chest.
