"M-missing in Action?"
Her high-pitched voice sounded throughout the room as Naru felt himself shaking. Naru remembered coming out of the airport with a man. He had a dark brown hair and black eyes. His posture is astute and his walk is uniformed.
Naru was confused when he opened his eyes but when he looked at his arms and clothes, he then learned that he's in a body of someone else. He's using his psychometry. Naru readied himself as they took a cab to drive the man and himself. Naru was a bit surprised when the cab entered a familiar mountain after 40 minutes of journey.
This pathway leads to Maple Villa.
The man carried him out of the cab after paying the driver. They hurriedly ran to this villa and found many soldiers recuperating inside the main house. They two of them opened a room— the room Naru occupied, and saw a soldier with amputated arm. The room Naru is currently staying in is one of the rooms the soldiers stayed in. Naru remembered the horror he felt in this girl's body after seeing that man's arm. From the whole way,Naru just watched emotionless eyes but he was greatly stunned when that man spoke.
"Taniyama-san.... Mai-chan...."
Naru felt terrified when he heard Mai's name. It means that the girl he was in is Mai. He realized that this is a memory from Mai's childhood. His control over himself was snapped and Naru failed to pretext himself from the host's emotions.
He can feel it. Mai was scared and worried. And her emotions intensified when she heard of Amane Shiro's situation. That the enemy captured her uncle after saving his comrades from a bomb— letting them escape while he stays.
His comrades said that he was missing in action so the police and the army sent backups and rescue to search for Amane Shiro but 14 hours had gone passed but the rescue hasn't found him. Mai and that brown haired man— who Naru presumed as Mai's father, was so worried when they learned of Amane Shiro's health condition before being captured. The atmosphere was so heavy that it can make a normal man crazy.
Mai— who is just a little girl, refused to accept that Amane Shiro might not survive the incident. She was horrified. She couldn't accept all the soldier's words. She keeps repeating that her uncle was just missing and not dead.
But seeing her father cry in front of her, Mai finally realized that the possibility of him being alive is close to zero. Naru felt Mai loose all hope and reason when he saw that man cry in Mai's perspective.
"No. He promised me that he'll come back alive!"
"He can't be dead! ....He must be alive!"
"He said he'll make me a dress for my first prom..."
"....He still haven't found a wife..."
"He said he'll give me a young brother.."
"....No.... NO! Come back.... Come back right this instance, Uncle Shiro!....."
These are the thoughts running inside Mai's mind at that time. Happy memories with the said person flashed through her vision as her brain refused to accept the fact that Amane Shiro might be dead. Naru can feel that body heating up as the seconds passed by. Naru can hear voices trying to calm Mai down while he's in Mai's perspective but Mai didn't listen to them and cried. Naru began feeling dizzy with all those extreme emotions.
