Mai stood in front of Sakauchi-san's room and raised her hand to open it. The family went on a trip and gave the key to the police for them to continue investigating. They were devastated when they found out the truth and was adamant to press charges. They went away from this house to move on. They don't want to suffer any longer so they thought that traveling to the places the siblings wanted to go would ease their pain.
Mai remembered the nostalgic face of the mother while talking about how close Sakauchi-san is to his half-sister. They even agreed to go to Iceland after they all graduate college. The two are the only children for this family but they were taken away by fate. It was quite tragic.
Their parents are not always home because of work and the siblings rely on each other everyday to live without their parents taking care of them at home. Their now grieving parents are very remorseful and guilty. They regret not spending time with their children more. Had they paid attention, this wouldn't happen. But they also knew that regret had no medicine. All they can do now is to fulfill their children's dream for them and punish whoever did this to them.
The curse reversal might've started at this time but Mai didn't have the courage to go join them. Mai figured out what Naru is doing by reading some books and confirming it with Lin on the phone but instead of being relieved, she was worried.
It's not that she didn't trust Naru and Lin. She was just worried that something might go wrong and mess up the plan. Yasuhara and the students will be in danger if that happened. And if she go to school with her currently emotional self, she might cause some problems and Naru might kick her out for disturbing the curse reversal.
Mai shook her head, clearing the thoughts that is currently occupying her mind and focused on the room that is presented to her. It was clean. It had no spot for dusts and other messy materials. It must be cleaned by someone everyday. Mai turn to look to the door next to the room. It is full with pink and cute decorations. Unlike the first door she opened, it is very obvious that the next room belonged to a girl.
Mai reached out her hand to the doorknob and couldn't help but to feel heavy. Sadness came rushing towards her heart as a sting bloom inside it. Mai pursed her lips and tried not to cry while opening the room. There she saw a girl crying.
Sadness. Anger. Humiliation. Pain.
Mai could feel it. That girl didn't stop crying as she held her body in her arms. She is like a pitiful porcupine that sticks her spines out to protect herself. There are visible wounds on her body. Her nails on both her forefingers are dug out while there are some cuts and bruises on her arms and neck.
Mai's jaw tightened. Her teeth clenching harder and harder by the second. Her lips are pale from biting and anymore force and it would bleed. Mai couldn't take such sight.
It was obvious that she had been beaten. Her wounds are also deep and the lines that are visible on her neck might've been caused by strangulation using a rope or a whip. Her nape is also bleeding and it might've been caused by someone forcefully pulling her hair up. Her messy hair couldn't hide it since there are blood that dried up on her hair.
Mai was about to run and hug the girl when a glowing figure of a guy came rushing and beat her to it. She watched as the girl look up to the boy. Mai almost cursed at the girl's appearance.
Yuuki Sasaki's face is very fair and delicate. She has a pair of shining phoenix eyes, porcelain-like nose and pink lips. But what Mai is seeing at this moment is the exact opposite of a beauty.
