Kazuya Shibuya never thought of ever returning to Japan after finding his older brother's body. His parents are afraid that they will lose another son and his work is on England and not in Japan. But here he was, working in the country where his brother died and even established the SPR's Japan Branch.

During his search for his twin, he had met many people and formed a group that he called his own team. He and Lin met them during a case in Kyoto. They are investigating a said haunted house when they came to the location one by one and began insulting each other.

The SPR at that time allied with Masako Hara and Father John Brown while the Miko and the Monk went on their way and began their exorcisms. The two arrogant spiritualist ended up angering the spirit residing in the house destroying some of Kazuya's equipment. Almost half of them are damaged.

At least the two have conscience and tried to offer compensation but Kazuya do not need money so he made them do other work and tricked them into signing a contract with the SPR. That is how Bou-san and Matsuzaki-san are tied to the company as its investigators and exorcists. Without knowing Kazuya and the SPR disguise, of course.

Lin was not okay with his plan but Kazuya saw that the two are very reliable in the ancient arts of exorcisms so he roped them in without his guardian's consent. Yasu, who is in a field trip with his class saw them in that house after being lost and stayed with them until his teacher found him. He began engaging with them and was starting to have an interest in ghost hunting— which he had never thought that he would do.

Yasuhara showed them his investigative skills by finding out the history of the house by researching and gathering information from the locals near the location. He had an impressive social skills too and gets along with the elderly using his 'old soul' nature. The spirit in that house is not letting go of his obsession and grudge so they were forced to exorcise him. With John, Matsuzaki-san and Takigawa-san united in a team, they successfully concluded the case.

Father Brown agreed to help the SPR in case they needed his help and Masako Hara did the same. The other two found out how Kazuya scammed them into signing a contract and was quite angry at him but they couldn't do a thing since they knew Kazuya mean no harm and wouldn't force them to do illegal things. In fact, they were a bit glad that they will be investigating more cases from then on since SPR receives so many requests.

Yasuhara's teacher found him before Kazuya and Lin leave and the young CEO offered Yasuhara a job in the SPR office— of course, without Lin's consent. Yasuhara agreed and began working for them three times a week. Lin was relieved since Yasu wouldn't be so close to Kazuya that often as a normal assistant would but he is still vigilant and monitor their every move.

Kazuya's secret was discovered by Masako Hara and also knew of their purpose of coming to Japan. Masako Hara once watched the PK demonstration of Oliver Davis and recognized Kazuya. She also learned of Gene's death from his father who is an influential figure in the entertainment industry and business world.

She offered assistance in finding Gene but with a condition. Kazuya is so unlucky as he attracted the attention of the young celebrity. Masako Hara began blackmailing him into going to dates with her. Kazuya and Lin was dissatisfied with this proposal but was forced to agree when the girl really tried to send the email to the journalist. But despite their little dates, Kazuya never developed romantic feelings for the girl and just agreed to her harmless requests from time to time out of obligation.
