One night, after being so stressed out from work and hunting. The couple decided to take a bath together. It wasn't to get frisky or anything. It was just to relax. The washed each others hair and played with the bubbles they had. It was nice and calming. Alec laid back in the tub to relax in the hot water and pulled Magnus next to him. Magnus shut his eyes and wrapped an arm around the shadowhunter.
Magnus couldn't bring himself to relax. He started remembering the time when his step-father tried to drown him. He could still feel the fear and panic it cause as if it happened the other day. Ever since then, Magnus could never stay in a body of water for long periods of time. He didn't want to tell his boyfriend because he didn't want to worry him when the point in all of this was to relax. He sat up and brought his knees to his chest and wrapped his arms around himself and tried to push the bad memories away.
He just wanted to be with his shadowhunter. Alec saw he looked upset and sat up. He rubbed gentle circles on his back. "Hey babe are you okay?" he asked. Mangus started crying a little bit. He only cried when he was really upset or frustrated. Alec heard him crying. "Magnus? Magnus baby are you okay?" He laid his head on the other boys shoulder. Magnus couldn't be in the water anymore. He got up and wrapped a towl around his waist and went into the bedroom and laid under the covers. He continued to cry.
Alec came in with a towel wrapped around himself not to long after and found his boyfriend under the blankets and crying. He crawled under the blankets with him and wrapped his arms around him. "Hey are you okay?" he asked.
"I...I could never stay in w-water to long like..that"
"How come?"
"Because I always think a-about my step d-dad trying to -drown me.."
"Oh Magnus. It's okay. Don't cry babe. It's okay. That happened a very very long time ago."
"I know it did but..it's still terrifying to me. I can never stay in water for to long.."
"Why didn't you say anything before?"
"Because we were supposed to relax and I didn't want to worry you.."
"Magnus its fine. You should have said something. Its fine babe. I understand." Magnus looked up with his boyfriend and Alec gave a reassuring smile and moved some hair out of his face. He kissed his tears away. "Settle down now. There's no need to cry, I promise." Magnus sniffled and laid his head against the shadowhunters chest. "Can..can we go back in the bath?" he asked. Alec looked down at him. "Are you sure you want to?" He nodded. Alec got up and took Magnus by his hand and lead him back to the bathtub. They got back into the water and laid next to each other. Magnus eventually was able to finally relax with his boyfriend in the nice hot bath.
