Part Two: Decision

'What?' My nerves were on end. He was going to try something. Something that'd benefit him in the end. I wasn't going to fall for it.

'Look, I know you don't want to be with Jason, it's obvious,' I could hear the beeps and honks of cars behind us, everyone in their own rush to get to places. Everyone busy in their lives, oblivious of the fact I was someone who'd been kidnapped and tortured for months. The drivers looked at me for a brief moment, some interested in my looks rather than the matter at hand, while some just looking at a person they'd come across and probably wouldn't bother to think about again. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat while he drove past the streets, the buildings fading past us.

'How do you know I don't hate you as much?'

The clouds started to veil the sky in colours of grey and white. I so desperately wanted to go outside when it'd rain. I could almost feel the rain against my cold skin, embracing me in sheets.

'Because, I'm your only way out. Whatever you have in your mind, throw it out. If you try to run, you'd die. Jason would kill you without hesitation. He has nothing to stop him from not doing so. So either you escape with me or we could be nice little people and follow all of Jason's directions,' He said the last part in a mocking way. His reason was good enough but incomplete.

'Why'd you help me?' The question slipped out of my mouth without me realizing it. He kept his gaze on the road and if I wasn't wrong, I thought I saw him smirk.

'I want to get back at Jason for something,' His smile vanished as he said so. A silence broke in the car. I could hear the drip drop of rain against the metal casing of his car, the smell of dirt and rain creating a serene environment. I took a deep breath. If only I could escape all this. Enjoy the rain as if it was just me and the raindrops against my rough skin. As if all that'd happened was a mere lie. Trick of God.

But, I opened my eyes and reality still slapped at me.

'What are you thinking? I need an answer,' His legs restlessly tapped against the floor of the car. Thak. Thak. Thak.

'What does my opinion matter to any of you? If I don't agree to it, you might as well just force me. It's as easy as that,' I could hear him sigh, a cloud of hail forming around his mouth from where he exhaled.

'I'm not going to do that. Look, if you go where Jason's taking you, you'd still die,'

'We'll bait the people after you to get Jason instead and we'll run away,' Was it really as easy as that? I could hear the determination in his voice, as though he'd planned it out carefully, trail after trial.

'Run away where?'

'You'll see,' Somehow, I wanted to trust him. I knew he wasn't any better than Jason, but it was a chance of escape. I was going to die with Jason anyway, why not take a risk and try to save myself?

'Darick really loved you,' I choked on the mention of his name. Darick. He knew him. I could finally get my answer.

'How was he like?' I closed my eyes, ready to contemplate his next words.

'Determined. To save you from Jason,'

The dirt road went on for miles, the same scenery replaying in front of me for over an hour and a half. It was almost frustrating.

'He knew...' I stated, unmoved. It was almost like loving him had become a foreign feeling, all because of Jason. I wondered what drug he'd given me.

'How..was he like?' I whispered, half wondering to myself. I could remember vague details. His soft skin against my own, his minty breath, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. However, It wasn't enough, because I'd lost all feeling. Maybe, if I remembered more, I'd make Darick's sacrifice worthy, at least I could love him the same way again.

'You mean, you don't remember?' He inquired, surprised. I fidgeted with my fingers for awhile.

'No..I think, Jason gave me something. I have hazy memories about my past,' I looked towards him. His face was expressionless, he stared ahead, but seemed to be thinking about something else.

'I see. He was..he was really in love with you..maybe that's the reason he got killed, because Jason couldn't bear that,' he stopped suddenly, as if he was about to say something, but for some reason, couldn't.

'And he regretted..something. He regretted his past, everything he'd done. He was planning to confess it all, which was why- killing him became mandatory,'

I furrowed my brows in confusion. Nothing he said made sense. How did he get killed?

'Can you tell me..how he got killed?' A silence fell upon us. Everything was just the drip of the rain or the sound of tires against gravel. I could see him considering his words carefully, as if he wanted to reveal the truth but couldn't.

'I think..you two were on a date. He was going to propose you, but not without letting you hear the truth,'

'The truth'. Somehow, these were the two words haunting me, what was the truth? Who really was Jason and Darick?

'What's the-' I was about to ask, when he pulled up near the police. Two tall officers showed us their badge and one of them knocked at my window pane. I opened it, unconsciously fidgeting with my wig I'd wore to make it seem like I was someone else.

'Where are you going Sir?' He asked casually, smiling at us. The other officer eyed me suspiciously. This was my chance. Either I could go quietly with him or ask for help. What's the worse that could happen? They're armed and it's two against one; that is, if Jason's not around.

'What's your name miss?' The officer looked towards me, expecting an answer. I opened my mouth to answer, but held myself back. What should I say? This was my final chance.

'Jenna. Daughter of Harrison,'
