~MEMORIES
A few days ago, Anna went missing. A few days ago, she was right in front of me. Was that really her? It had to be. I held my hair in my hands, frustrated, thinking over and over about a person who was well (somewhat) and alive in front of you but now is no more. Did she run away? She couldn't have or she would've told me.
Oh, Anna.
I looked at myself in the mirror, illuminated by the light that filtered in through the blinds. All the lights in my room were off. Somehow the dark comforted me in a way. Maybe it made me feel resigned, so I didn't have to face the world, and remember Anna as she walked with me hand in hand, chirping about her favourite brand or a shop left to be explored. It wasn't fair. We were broken apart before her last sighting. We were broken apart by some unknown force I had forgotten. The shock of her going missing out of the blue wasn't wearing off. I couldn't eat, couldn't talk. I woke up and thought I should call Anna and invite her over. Sometimes I even forgot why i was being so reclusive.
The door of my room creaked open, and I saw my mother's expressionless face peaking through.
'Jenna, someone's here to see you,'
'Who the hell could it be? Don't you see I can't realize what even happened!? Why do you have to barge in my room every time just to provoke me!? Did I ever need you before? Did I? LEAVE ME ALONE!' I felt like all the burden I'd been carrying the past few days had wore off, my body shook with anger and my mind finally registered what I'd said. My mom stood near the door, her arms crossed, head bowed.
'Oh, mom,' I started bowling my eyes out, all the tears I'd held back finally came out, and I knew that I'd finally accepted reality. I'd lost my best friend. No, my sister. I'd lost my sister.
'Oh Jenna, honey, I don't know what to say,'
'You don't have to say anything. Just you being here...it's more than what I'd wish for. Thank you. Forgive me,' I turned my back to her, trying to hide the tears I couldn't stop flowing. I felt the door close in behind me and the bed dipped. What I'd said to her was more than enough to make me feel guilty for the rest of my life, she had to leave, or i had to regret more things in life.
'Jenna?' My eyes widened at the voice.
'W-who?' I asked, trying to search my memory.
'It's me. Turn around,' He said in a soft voice.
'What do you want?' I asked, maybe a bit too harshly.
'You weren't coming to college. I was worried,' He replied, his tone that of concern. I laughed sarcastically.
'Concerned my a*s,'
'Look, I know you're probably angry at me,'
'Get to the point,' I cut him off bitterly. I heard him gulp. Did I really get him nervous? He deserved it.
'You see..I wanted to teach you a lesson.' Did he want to be friends or not, cause that wasn't re-assuring at all.
'Well, thank you, now i know what people say about you isn't all a lie,' Did i just say that?
'It is a lie,' he retorted, abit lamely though.
'Look, thanks for being here but you should leave,' I still had my back to him, not daring to look at his deceitful face.
'Atleast look at me,' he begged. I turned around slowly to look at him, and to say he looked like hell was an understatement.
