Part One: Matter of Truth
What did he do? I couldn't move. The first thing that sabotaged all my thoughts was that I..couldn't move. It was dark. Or had I gone blind? I didn't know what he'd achieve by keeping me oblivious. Perhaps, satisfaction. Satisfaction that I was utterly terrified.
My voice croaked as I screamed, my mouth sensing the gag that kept it from moving. My teeth hurt from keeping the gag in between them for who knew how long. My hands were cuffed to the bed post, and I bet one of them was bleeding. Since when did I loose my senses? I couldn't feel anything. Had he numbed me?
'Do you wonder...' Click. A cigarette.
'Why people in those cliche horror stories' first instinct is to scream when they're oblivious?'
A deafening silence.
'Because they fear the worst. Be it a movie, but Isn't that what they want us to feel? The thrill that as if it was real? Do you fear the worst jenna?' A tear escaped my eye.
'Aw, now I didn't mean you to cry. I know what I said that day, when I was drunk.' He knew?
'Ah..' He took a long sip from something and than a gulp.
'Emma was my accomplice. Mother...' He hesitated.
'Mother used to say I was worthless. That I couldn't do anything right. And then I did it,' A sob escaped my lips as I whimpered at what he was about to say. I knew it was something gruesome.
'She was beautiful. She needed a home. And..I gave her one. She was ignorant at the beginning, but she got used to me..' Did he kidnap her too?
'Believe it or not, she loved me. But,' He hesitated for the second time. I sensed a hint of jealousy in his face.
'She was better. Better. Than me. At everything.' At that point, I was completely confused.
'But I..I unleashed her inner demon, I was the one..responsible!' He screamed and smashed the glass tumbling over something. He got drunk again.
'Mother said she was better than me. I thought..I thought if i broke her, if I proved to mother I could actually unleash people's true abilities, true evil lurking inside them, i could finally make her proud,' He choked. I guess he was sobbing at the time. I pulled at my bounds and struggled to sit up to ease my aching lower.
'Emma gave up, though. And it made her take her own life...' Click. Another bottle cap went down on the floor.
'But I loved her,' His sound got low at the sentence, his tone longing for someone long lost.
'Before she turned into this..this monster,' He kicked the table which toppled not over 3 centimetres near my feet. I cringed further away.
'She became just like mother...But I could..never be like mother, than how did she..how did she become like her? Someone so innocent..?' He cried. What was he on about? What made emma become that way and why did she commit suicide? If only I could remove that rag, I could've known..
'I want to be like mother. I want to be like her. Who didn't care for even her loved ones..She loved father with a passion. But she knew love was what made a man weak. Love..was what stopped you from unleashing your true abilities. Abilities that distinguished you from all of mankind.' He was crazy. His mother was somehow responsible for him turning out a psycho. I needed to know how..
'I know now, Jenna. I know how I could unleash mine, all thanks to you.'
