They sat together for a bit more. Then, Zico put his hands together, getting ready to get up and said; "come on, they're waiting for us. I'm gonna go back out there."
Clementine knew by now that Zico liked having people come to him, but even he was drawn to the crowd eventually.
When the two made their way back onto the dance floor, Clementine was hit with a sudden wave of tiredness. A bit like a cement wall, now that the excitement was starting to dissipative, and she had adapted to the room and the surroundings. she felt herself coming down.
So she wasn't shocked, but slightly disappointed, when Zico took another 'hit' with them.
She had an urge to go home and crawl into bed.
Zico turned to her, and kissed her. What he really did though, was move a pill from his tongue onto hers.
Clementine pulled back and looked at him.
"If you don't take one now, you're going to crash bad. We're still going to go somewhere. Trust me," he handed her the bottle of water to wash it down, and Clementine moved it from her mouth, down her throat.
He was right, soon enough she started to feel the high again and any urge to sleep disappeared.
Zico looked at her and grinned, "see?" He said, "I was right."
Clementine nodded, and then they were off somewhere else.
Their whole group, which turned out to be a few people, let the building and made their way to some local beach area that Clementine has never been to before.
She was rolling, and everything was smothered behind stained glass. Zico and her were both touchy, running around the sand, laughing and feeling giddy in a way Clementine hasn't felt since, well, since she was a child probably.
There was also music somehow, though her head was still pounding from the club. Along with the boombox, someone was handing out beers to everyone.
"Take one," Zico handed her one, "it'll help with the comedown."
So she took one, and they sipped on Coronas while the sky above them changed, and the stars began to disappear.
A lot of them were talking in Portuguese, and Clementine didn't catch much of it, but she smiled and nodded and did her best to live in the moment.
Finally, most of the group settled down, and they watched the sunrise, everyone huddled onto each other. Though Clementine and Zico sat off to the side.
"Look at that sun," Clementine said, head resting on his shoulder. "I don't want it to come up. Because that means this will be over. And I'll have to leave you again. You'll have to leave me again," she whispered quietly, correcting herself.
He just turned to look at her, and gently kissed her.
They sat like that, in an embrace, until the sun finally pierced the sky and rose to their eye level.
Shining a light on what the sark did so well to hide.
