The next morning, Clementine woke up and the house was eerily quiet.
Unusual, she thought.
After brushing her teeth, putting her hair up in a messy bun and slipping on an oversized t shirt and shorts - she had nobody to impress here - she made her way downstairs and expecting to see her parents only found Laticia.
"Bom dia," she said to her, "before you say anything, your parents have gone out of town. Something urgent came up for work, and they had to leave right away," then turning to her directly she carried on "the shouldn't be gone more than the two day."
A few things ran though Clementine's mind right away, "why wouldn't they tell me?"
"I told you, it happened quickly," setting the table for Clementine's breakfast. "Now don't get any crazy ideas, you're still technically grounded, renumber?"
"Yeah, yeah. Here, let me help," Clementine took over the breakfast setting.
Eating her eggs, she knew shed be lying if she said she didn't think about how this was a prime opportunity for the house to herself...and though she was under 'supervision' she could still do more than if her parents were there.
Things like play loud music, smoke and well, invite some people over. People whose names start with the last letter of the alphabet....she was't sure why but his name started to feel like it had some sort of power over her. Like it was something slightly forbidden. Like a cuss word. She didn't know why but it definitely helped to make her realize the power of words.
After breakfast, she sat alone in the house and wondered what she should do first.
She didn't even know if Zico was in or out of town.
Reaching for her phone, she just looked at it, pondering for am moment the best way to proceed.
Before this morning, she didn't know way would be the way forward, but now she felt a new confidence coming over her.
Finally, she took her phone and decided to respond to him and his 'picture'. She hadn't heard anything form him then, but she nevertheless took this opportunity to find some stuff out.
Hey Z. Where are you? Looks like fun!
She then threw her phone back on the table.
She got up and went into the sunshine to stretch. She tried remembering what they taught her in those overpriced yoga classes in New York. But then she gave up trying to remember, instead giving in to instinct.
