The week came and left and suddenly it was Saturday.
She had her little backpack, and left in the morning before anyone was awake.
She called a taxi to take her to his apartment, which she actually did not get to go into.
Because stepping out onto the street, she saw Zico but he was in a jeep.
She did't think it was him before he called her name.
He got out and ran towards her, crossing the street, picking her up in a hug.
"A jeep, Zico?" Clementine couldn't believe this was happening and happening like this.
He took her hand and motioning towards it, he yelled "lets get in!"
"You're still not telling me where we;'re going, huh?" Clementine threw her backpack into the backseat.
"Not a chance. You'll see when we get there!" Zico started the jeep which was not even a car by any usual standards. With a Fram but now windows or doors on the side, it was like a suicide mission but one she didn't mind doing with him.
There was some small talk here and there, but mostly, they both enjoyed each other's company and presence which was illuminating their lives more and more.
He let her play her music, and when that ended he put on his own which was somehow even more magical and new sounding to Clementine than what she had before.
Suddenly, they were on the outskirts of the city. Driving on a small highway and into the inner land.
"You're not going to kidnap me, are you?" Clementine laughed, only half joking.
Zico looked over at her, smiling and grabbing her hand in his, kissing it and then continuing to hold it all the way until they road started turning a lot more green and lush.
"The rainforest; Brazil's lungs. The world's lungs, really. I wish people could understand how vital this nature is to us," Zico mused as they kept driving.
"I didn't realize it mattered to you so much, I like that," Clementine said, observing the emerald beauty around them.
"Wouldn't you care about the survival of humanity and its environment? I mean, maybe humanity will get what it deserves when the earth can no longer support us because of all the inhuman human activities. And then finally a more deserving species will take over."
He was quite serious, and Clementine thought about it for a bit.
"Yeah, but can't we enjoy the present for a bit? Speaking of, I hope you brought water."
Zico handed her a water bottle from the backseat, and when he saw her take a pause, he said "don't worry. Its just water this time. Promise."
"I wasn't worried," Clementine said, taking a big swig but that was also a half truth.
"I have boundaries too, you know," he said.
"I know," Clementine smiled at him. "How much longer by the way?" She asked.
"Aren't you enjoying this nature?" Zico turned down the radio.
"Yes, but I also need to pee," it hit her then how much they were slaves to their own humanity.
"So demanding!" Zico said smiling and sarcastically.
They were practically on an isolated road now, with no one around but the trees, so he pulled over.
Clementine got out of the car and told him not to look, then walked a little bit into the forest.
"Don't go too far!" Zico yelled behind her. "There's wildlife here!"
"What?!" Clementine didn't like that, so she just squatted right there and then.
She took the few steps back to the car and saw Zico leaning on the hood of the car.
"Stretching my legs," he told her, handing over the water bottle from his extended arm to hers.
Clementine came up to him and took a swig.
"Thank you for that. I feel much more relief now," Clementine handed him the water bottle back and their fingers grazed, sending those familiar lighting bolts down her spine.
It was starting to get more hotter and humid as the sun was rising, but also because it was just them in the extraterrestrial environment.
Whatever it was, it prompted her to finally get a good look at him and touch him again.
She put out her arm towards his chest and looked him in the eye, and he kissed her before she had a chance to react.
Then, wrapping his arms around her, he managed to hold both her legs up, and turn around, now they were both leaning on the car. She was sitting on the hood, and he was pressing up against her.
Then she had a strong desire to just connect with him, in a way that felt impossible.
"Please," she whispered, almost involuntarily.
He kissed her back and then suddenly pulling away, he said, "not here, not now," knowing what they were both referring to, he finally said "patience."
And pulling her off the car hood gently, he threw the keys towards her and told her to drive.
