The institute was a long, low building with ratty walls, like they were a bit of cloth that could be unraveled by pulling the right thread. There was no one outside to greet us.
I got out the car with T. I considered running, but without the door I had no chance of escaping. Perhaps if I got ahold of C's keys.
But C stayed in the car. He pulled out a cigar, which surprised me. I hadn't pegged him a smoker, much less a smoker of something so old-fashioned as the thick, stinking cigar. He dug around in the car, lighting it as we left.
Inside was dark. A secretary looked up from the front desk as we walked in, her glasses glinting in the low light.
"Agent T." She said thoughtfully. "Is this the cause of the energy wave?"
"It's believed so." T replied. "He's holding on some information. I would like him to speak with K."
She nodded. Was it just the lighting, or did her face pale a little?
"Please take a seat." She told me.
I turned and ran out the door. T followed, knocking me over the head with a hard fist. I turned and cut upwards with a blow, but he misdirected it, cuffing me in the temple again. The world went fuzzy.
I bolted, a little uneven in my footing.
He caught up quickly.
I fought again. It didn't last long.
He grabbed my the forearms, cuffed me, and dragged me into the institute.
