Ireland

Ireland, it turns out, is very green.

We stepped out of the red door.  It had growled at Jeanie uncooperatively the day before, when it had been just her, but now there was no sound.  Only the faint buzz across my skin as we stepped out onto the thick, green turf.

The thing was, it wasn't just green.  It was damp, verdant, rich...  It would have been stark against the sky if it weren't keyed up to a similar vibrancy.  My eyes almost burned with it.

"Ah."  I said.  "Green."

Jeanie snorted.

"Yeah-huh!"  Chris said.  He sat down on the grass, pulling up blades and staring at them.

Jeanie sat down next to him and pulled up grass as well, sprinkling it on Chris' fuzzy head.

Chris laughed.  "Jeanie!"

She gave him big, innocent eyes.  "Yeah-huh?"

Kate stood behind them, arms wrapped around herself, staring into the brightness.  The air was crisp, with a damp edge to it that once would have made me shiver.  Now we were all just aware of it, unharmed.

Yes, I decided.  This had been worth a wish.
