He had to call out another man to help wrestle me into restraints on a surgical-style table.  I flexed, testing them, but the metal was sturdy.

"Hey--"  I said, but T left with the other fellow.

I was alone.

Shifting in the restraints, I wiggled at them, hoping to find a weak point.  There were no weak points.

A pale man entered.  He was bulky, wide shouldered, but aging quickly. He reminded me a bit of Jake, body-type wise, but his eyes were totally different. Sharp and unfocused at the same time. As if he were looking into the past at something that pained and pleased him. They were a deep, reddish brown.

"Hello."  The pale man said.

"Are you K?"  I asked wearily.

"That I am."

"What are you going to do to me?"

He chuckled.

Taking out an innocent looking white cloth, about the size of a handkerchief, he placed it over my nose and mouth.

"Did you know--"  He said, getting out a bucket of water.  "-- This method was used in the Spanish Inquisition?"

"No one expects the Spanish Inquisition."  I mumbled.

He must have had good hearing, because he laughed.  "You know, I think that's the first time anyone has taken this so lightly."

He mistook my levity for a joke.  It was simply my whacked brain spouting the first thing that came to mind.

"Now."  K said.  "There are two questions, no, three questions I need answered.  Firstly,"  He rested the bucket of water on the edge of the surgical-style, reaching down to fiddle with something beneath it.  "What was the energy wave?  Secondly, what is the door?   And thirdly, what did you tell it?"

He paused, thoughtfully.  The table tilted so that my feet were above my head.  "Actually, a fourth comes to mind.  How did all this come to be?"

I sighed.  It was obvious I was going to suffer, here.

"I don't intend to answer those questions.  I don't know what you'd do with the answers."

"Hmm.  Well, as you wish."

And he poured the water over my face.
