"Oh." She said, as if just remembering, "I'm going to go back into my lamp, after Jake's wishes are filled."
"Oh?" I rubbed my arms, as if cold. "What wishes does he have?"
"He's already gone over them with me. They're confidential, but, I don't think they'll destroy either him or the world. Nothing to yours, of course."
"Nothing to mine in the ability to destroy the world?"
"Of course, yours did the opposite." She replied softly. "They healed the world."
"But you'll stay with him?"
"I haven't much choice, someone lost my lamp. But that's part of the reason I'm going back into my lamp after. I don't want to live out my life as some secretary to his grand schemes."
I nodded absently. The strong, virulent desire to wound her with my words cycled through me, then puffed out.
"But, I think I will stay with this family line." She continued, when I didn't respond further.
"Oh?"
"Yes."
I curled up on my side, tipping to lean against the couch cushions. Sleep called at me viciously.
"Abel?"
"Yeah-huh?"
She touched my shoulder gingerly. "Don't sleep away your life, okay? Promise me you'll travel."
"I will."
"Promise?"
I looked at her, and the boundaries fell away.
"Promise."
