Loki's POV~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Everything in me was numb. Tears ran down my cheeks, and everything stood still. Fitz had unhooked the machienes from her body a few moments after she had stopped breathing, and I sat there, holding her pale, and for the first time, cold, hand. Natasha sat on her other side, Coulson and Barton behind her as she cried.
I sat there, staring at her beautiful pale face, all of the worry and fear finally lifted off of it. For the first time since I had met her, she looked compleatly at peace. This isn't how I wanted to see her at peace though. Not laying there, lifeless. My free hand moved up, and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She was too cold.
As my free hand went back to laying in my lap, some one caught ahold of it. I looked up. I hadn't even noticed that Natasha had moved from her chair. "Loki?" Her voice shook, and I met her gaze. "She really did love you. I-I could see it. In her eyes, the way she looked at you." She took another deep breath. "She used her last breath to try and tell you, and-and I'm sorry." Her voice cracks, and she breaks down again. Suprising everyone in the room, she leans down and hugs me, crying into my shoulder.
"Why are you sorry? I ask, my own voice hoarse from the tears.
"I-If I had b-been able t-too get h-him to talk, t-then w-we could have s-saved her." He voice stuttered over the words. I grabbed her shoulders and fourced her too look at me.
"Do not dare to blame yourself, Natasha." I said in the most firm voice I could mange. "If I had made sure that she hadn't gotten taken in the first place, If I had just stayed with her...." I trailed off. "Then we wouldn't have needed to be here at all." Tears start to fall from my eyes again.
"She defended you, you know. During our video call." Barton's sudden voice made us both turn to look at him. "We told her that you were too dangerous and she shouldn't get involved with you."
"I know." I say quietly. "She came into the kitchen to get something to eat while you were all argueing. Told me that you had seen us kiss." I chuckle. "My only response was asking her which one you had seen." Barton chuckles a little too.
"I knew she had looked slightly guilty there."
Silence envelopes the room again. "We-we need to go. Natasha says. "They are going to take her to get her ready for the funeral. It'll be in three days." She looks down at me. "I-I want to give you a second chance. If you'll let me." She says quietly.
"I will gladly take it, Natasha." I say after the moment of shock wears off. I slowly stand, and Natasha and I lean on each other for support.
"Call me Nat." She says. We reach the doorway, and I take one last look over my shoulder, knowing that I was leaving my heart behind with Sophie's body.
Sophie's POV~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"H-Hello?" I call out into the darkness yet again. I had woken up here, surrounded by nothing but blackness. I couldn't see what I was walking on, couldn't see where I was going. And it was cold here, too cold. I shivered again, hugging my arms to myself. I was totally and compleatly alone here.
I had never been able to finish telling Loki that I loved him. That made me want to cry, but here I couldn't for some reason. Not only that, but I couldn't use my powers either, and that worried me more than not being able to cry. I felt like I was being watched. That s why I kept calling out. Maybe I was just parinoid, but it was like an itch I couldn't scratch.
I-I know someone is there!" I call out, trying to be braver than I was. "Where am I?"
No answer.
I shivered again. "Fine then, don't answer. I'll find a way out of here." I started walking again, having absolutly no idea which direction I was going.
A peal of laughter comes from behind me, and I whirl around. Standing behind me is a woman in a black cloak, with long black hair, and extremly familiar peircing green eyes. She was beautiful, and looked like Loki.
"I can see why my father loves you." She says with a large smile. She comes over and hugs me, startling me.
"Um...." I trail off, not knowing quite what to say.
"Oh! How rude of me!" She exclaims, letting me go. "I haven't properly introduced myself." She moves right in front of me. "I am Hel. Goddess of Death, and," She has a familiar mischevious glint in her eye, one I know too well. "Daughter of Loki."
"Well I thought you looked like Loki in female form, but I wasn't going to ask." I blurt out. She just laughs again.
"I have been told that I look much like my father many times." She says.
"I didn't expect the goddess of death to be so lively." I tease. Then it hits me. "Goddess of Death, huh?" I look around. "Then that means that I'm..." I trail off. I won't ever get to see him again. Never will be able to finish saying I love you, never will be able to kiss him again, or even just hug him. She laughs again, startling me out of my thoughts.
"I love this part." She says, smiling. "Tony went through it too." My head snaps up at that.
"You know Tony? How?"
"He died." She says simply. "When he took that missle into the portal. But he wasn't finished yet. He wasn't ready for death." She paused. "Though he did hit on me." I laugh this time.
"Typical Stark." I say. "Really shouldn't have expected anything less."
"You'll have to tell my father about that." She says with a smirk. I'm instantly drragged down from good mood.
"How? I'm dead." I say sadly. "I won't ever be able to talk to him again."
"You truly love him." She observes, a soft smile on her face.
"I do."
"Then you'll love this." She says, and I look up at her smiling face.
"You're close too it, but you aren't dead, Sophie Crest. Not yet."Thats it. Thats all for 'Who Are You' . The sequel will be out soon, although the updates will be slightly slower. I will update here when it is!!!
