"What do you want to know?"
"Tell me about your eyes." I was taken aback. He really was interested in the way my eyes worked, but he wanted to know something so I would only give him a little information about them. They were to important to explain everything about on a question about cold hands.
"No." I said quietly. Then a little louder I said, "Your hands are probably always cold because of the temperature in this place, so I am not going to waste my first question on cold hands."
"Then what do you want your first question to be?" he asked after raising his eyebrows at my response. I mulled over the list of questions in my head, trying to think of something I wanted in exchange for a small piece of information about my eyes.
"I will give you a small piece of information about my eyes in exchange for taking me out of these handcuffs while I am here." He thought about it and nodded, agreeing to my offer. Greeny got the guard outside the door to come in and take off the handcuffs, and when they came off I sat and rubbed my wrists for a moment before he looked at me expectantly. "Alright. My eyes get large and change color when I use my powers."
"And?" he prompted.
"And what? I said I would give you a SMALL piece of information about my eyes. Not everything I know about them." I said, putting emphasis on the word small.
"You are sneaky for a mortal." He said, slightly impressed.
"Anything else you wanted to know? Or were my eyes the only thing?" I said sarcastically, making sure to keep eye contact. It was an interrogation trick I had learned from Nat had taught me. Natasha and Clint were the only friends I had at S.H.I.E.L.D. and I didn't appreciate the fact that Green had taken control of one of their heads.
"What powers do you have?" he asked, having caught that in my answer. I cursed at myself in my head and he smirked at it. I instantly put up the walls around my head, having forgotten about his telepathic abilities.
"I will tell you about two of my powers," I said carefully, "In exchange for being allowed to walk around this place freely." He frowned at that and looked at the door.
"The two of them have to be different ones than I already know about." He said seeing through the fact that I was going to tell him about the heat and shrieking abilities. "And they have to be explained thoroughly. Along with that, you must have a guard with you when you walk around so you do not attempt escape." I thought about it. He was covering a lot of end routes that I had ben planning on.
"Okay," I said slowly, "That seems doable." He waited for my powers explanation and I thought about the least harmful ones. I decided on the two that didn't seem important and hadn't come to much use except when I used them earlier in life. "The first is that I can breath under water. " I thought about it carefully. "Actually, I can breath under most liquids that I come across, as long as they are not filled with pollutants. I can still breath with that but it makes me extremely sick for a few days and it is not pleasant. It is like trying to breath around a mouthful of marbles." I shuddered at that memory.
"And the other?" he prompted after I had paused for a few moments.
"The other is that I am fireproof." I said, annoyed that he couldn't give me a few seconds, "It also works with weak radiation, which could possibly explain why your stick thing doesn't work on me but I am not sure." He frowned and it stayed silent for a few minuets until he suddenly got up and started to walk to the door.
"That is all I want to talk about today, mortal." he said, suddenly with a coldness written across his features. I got up and started following him. We were out the door when he noticed me behind him. "What are you doing?"
"Walking." I said quickly. "I'm allowed to do that now, and there is a guard following us so it does not violate our agreement." He frowned but nodded and started walking towards the lab. I decided to go in a different direction and explore a little. After about an hour of not being able to even come close to an exit, I found myself at the lab again. Greeny was getting up from sitting on a few steps, stick in hand. he looked angry at something but I didn't know what. nobody had approached him and he had been looking into space. He began talking with Eric and Barton and I caught the tail end of the conversation.
"A distraction." Barton said as he whipped out his bow, "And an eyeball." they began mapping out a plan to obtain a substance called iridium and how the were going to get the eyeball they needed. "We make sure to stay out of their attention, or at least get out before SHIELD arrives. Then we set up to open the portal on one of the highest buildings." I involuntarily let out a snort of laughter at the idea and they all turned to me. Oops.
"Are you laughing at the start of the war that will end your world?" Greeny asked. I decided to go with honesty on this one.
"Nope. I am laughing at your idiotic plan to attempt to even come close to taking over the world." I said nonchalantly. approaching the table. "SHIELD has eyes on everything right now and there is no way you would do this without them noticing, and, by the time you are ready to set up, they will have figured it out. You would be a failure, as most villains are." I finished my statement and waited for him to finish thinking about it
"She is right." Eric said slowly. "They could figure it all out before we even moved base." Greeny turned to me with a smirk on his face,
"What should we do then, mortal?"
"Distract them from the inside and separate." I said before I could stop myself. "Duh."
"That could work." I heard Barton say. Greeny looked at the guard behind me.
"Take her back to her room. She does not need to know of our plans." I was yanked back to my room before I could protest and was locked inside. I sat on the bed for a few hours, absorbed in my own thoughts until the door was opened and the guard came through with a large garment bag. He laid it on the bed, looked at me and pointed across the hall to a door.
"Go get cleaned up and put on what is in the bag. Then come right back here to wait." I opened the bag and found a shimmering, floor length emerald dress. I looked up at the guard.
"What is this for?" I asked curiously. He started to walk out of the room.
"Do what you are told." I did and by the time I got back to the room I saw Greeny sitting in the chair. When he saw me he stood up, showing off the suit he wore. He looked me over and had a look of awe pass over his face before it went back to business.
"That will do." he said and he went out the door with me following.
"What are we doing?" I asked, hating to be in a dress and hating to be out of the loop. He turned back to me with a smirk and said in a simple and light tone,
"We are going to a party."
