That night i went into my room, hung up my dress, and didn't talk to anybody but my cat and dog, which I find myself doing sometimes when there's no one to turn to.
My mind was swirling with questions. What would happen if I went to Africa? What powers do I have? Why did the Canines kill my family? Would they kill me?
I try to levitate a pen on my desk across the room, after a few failed attempts, I plopped back on my bed and laughed pathetically.
"What am I gonna do Flame?" I said, talking to my cat. I named her flame because of the vibrant orange stripes that spread across her chest and back. She stares at me with her bright orange eyes and doesn't say a word. We glare at each other for a while. I started to get a weird warm feeling in my chest, my hands and feet started to tingle, and suddenly my whole body felt engulfed in the weird sensation, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from Flame.
All in one moment, it came rushing to me. Flame was born in an alleyway in New York, her family had died from sickness when she was just a kitten, and it was just her for a long time.
I suddenly saw the world through her eyes. I could see me picking her up for the first time, I could see Lilly licking her face as she hissed continuously.
I snapped out of my weird vision and came back to my original state.
My heart was pounding in my ears and I couldn't breathe for a few seconds. What did I just do? I looked at my cat, who was being more affectionate than what she was a few minutes ago. She was curling up on my legs and purring loudly.
I looked over at Lilly, who was now alert and cocking her ears in my direction, watching at how startled I was.
I decided I should probably just go to sleep, that day was just too much for me. I closed my eyes and slept.
--
It was pitch black. I couldn't see where I was or who I was with, but I kept hearing that same voice. An old raggedy woman voice whispers in my ear.
Trust no one... Trust no one...
All of a sudden, a dog came out of the darkness and started biting and scratching, it's eyes turned white, and foam sprayed out of its mouth as it teared at my body. It felt so real I screamed in pain. My vision got more white and blurry with every bite of the dog. Eventually all I could see was white, and I could still hear the faint echoes of my screams, and the sound of the woman.
Trust no one...
