When my mom picked me up I was in such a happy mood, I skipped to the car.
"Hey hon, why so jumpy?" She asked me.
"I'm going to the beach! With that Mason boy you meant yesterday!" Just his name made me excited for tonight.
"Oh! Wow. That was fast. I approve, I like him." She said with a slight smile.
"Is it okay if I go to Jess's when we get home? So I can find out what to wear?" I asked. Her and Carly's houses are just a mile away from mine.
"Sure."
"Really? Thanks Mom!"
"No problem, don't dress too slutty."
"MOOM!"
"What?! I'm just kidding!" We both laughed the rest of the way home.
When I stepped in the front door, I was greeted by Lilly. She started to nudge me with her head, she only did this when she wanted to go for a walk. Mason probably wouldn't mind if I brought my dog along... She loved the beach. I thought.
"I will be back in a little bit from Jess's, I will walk you then don't worry," I kissed my god on her wet nose and I went into the kitchen to grab the phone. I dialed Jess's number
Jess- Hello?
Me- IM COMING OVER!!!
Jess- Okay! Sounds like good news! Hurry up!
Me- Bye!
I dialed Carly's number.
Carly- Hey! What's up?
Me- GO TO JESS'S HOUSE!!!
Carly- Calm down jumpy I'm on my way!
Me- Bye!
I hung up the phone and walked outside. There was still happy leaps in my step as I walked along the pavement.
I opened the door to Jess's house. "Guess who?!" I shouted. Carly and Jess peeked their heads around the corner of the hallway.
"What on Earth has gotten into you!" Yelled Jess. I told them about lunch and how he asked me on a date.
"Oh my gosh!" Shouted Carly, her face now red with excitement.
"Come on! I'm making you gorgeous!" Jess grabbed my hand and lead me into her room. I called her up because she is really good with makeup, and she has lots of summer beach clothes. They helped me pick out the perfect outfit and Jess made me look like a supermodel. They wished me luck as I walked out the front door and back to my house at 5:45. When I walked in the door, my mom stood there with her hands on her hips.
"Yup... Too slutty." She said with some attitude.
"How?!?" I yelled.
"I'm just kidding! You look beautiful. Have fun. Be home by 10. I love you!"
"I love you too." I said laughing.
I hooked Lilly's leash on her collar. She twitched her ears in anticipation. Mason walked up to my door. I had a confused look on my face, I was expecting a car. I opened the door and greeted him with a hug. Lilly trotted behind me and Mason choked on air.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Is that a dog?" His face startled.
"Obviously! He needed a walk."
"Where did you get him?"
"Uuuh... A pet store? You're acting weird."
"Sorry just a little nervous... I bet you were expecting a car but... I'm cheap."
"It's completely fine! I needed to walk Lilly anyway. I'm just glad you didn't ditch me!" I said laughing.
"I would never ever ditch you! Especially you!" He said with a smile. My cheeks started to change color.
"So... You're dog isn't dangerous right?"
"Of course not!"
We walked to the beach, which wasn't a very long walk, we lived only a few miles away from the shore. When we got to the beach, the view was breathtaking. The orange sun was mixed with so many different pinks and purples. the whole thing glistened in the water like a mirror. Mason wrapped his arms around my waist, "Beautiful, isn't it." I forced myself to hold in a squeal. A nod was all I could respond with.
We walked up and down the shoreline holding hands, constantly talking and laughing. Lilly ran through the water and was burying her face in the sand.
"Hey Paige."
"Hmm." I replied. I was too relaxed sitting between his legs in the sand, putting my head on his large chest. We were stargazing together.
"You know, the dance is coming up soon, you wanna go with me beautiful?" He asked me.
My head shot up. I looked into his eyes, he was giving me his look. The one I couldn't stand. I let a small squeal escape my mouth.
"Yes!" I managed to say. I hugged him so tight I thought I was choking him. At that moment, the sky suddenly got a bit lighter. I looked up to see that the stars that we were looking at had more than doubled. There were now different patterns and rows of glowing light splattered through the sky, I was so amazed at how they appeared over the light pollution in New York.
"That's crazy." Said Mason. Gesturing to the stars. By the end of the night, Mason walked Lilly and I home.
"I had fun." He said with his look.
"Me too!" I said.
"Goodnight gorgeous." Mason kisses my forehead and then leaves. I stood on the front porch, breathless. As I was standing there, the porch light popped and made a terrible sound as it hit the floor. I decided I would just clean it up tomorrow. I went upstairs and plopped down on my bed, staring at the ceiling, going over the night in my head.
