A Cult Following

Ah the city. So large and full of life. The birds chirping, the giant space dragons doing...well what giant space dragons do, and the peaceful serenity of the the citizens. But, something lays deep underneath. Lying in secret for as long as the city's inception.

It started out as a rumor, nothing more, nothing less. But over time, more and more pieces of evidence began to emerge. An organization. Something wasn't quite right. People began to go missing. And it's not like it could be any rouge kidnapper, no. Every person who went missing had a distinct trail left behind them. They would be spotted in gas station surveillance footage one day, and be seen in a park the next. These weren't kidnappings. They were leaving by themselves.

Soon, a sizeable number of people had gone missing to warrant a full blown investigation. But, it came up fruitless. The disappearances soon came to a halt, as the investigation did as well. The effort to investigate brought up very little to no evidence. Except, it did yield one thing. A small pin. It was found on the body of one of the victims. It had what looked like a meteorite on it, and some words.

"Gather round! The Messiah Angel will arrive shorty!"

Six people were gathered around a circle. Well, more like a pentagram. It was drawn in purple ink, quite crudely. They were in a dark area. The area was small, and had no windows. Almost like it couldn't have any, since it was underground. There was also little to no light, mines the small lightbulb that dangled over the group. 

Each person was wearing a large black cloak. The cloak covered most of the body's of the people, and then some. They all had purple highlights strewn about the design. At first they looked the same, but upon further inspection, they were all intricate and different. The height and size of the people differed quite a bit. Some were quite large and tall, like normal adults. While others were small, and short. Almost like children.

Everyone was standing perfectly still. Two of the people, short kid looking ones, looked over at each other. Even though the hoods on the cloaks were quite large, the faces inside were still very visible. The kids both looker rather similar. Both had jet black hair, and sort of similar faces. But, just like the robes, these two kids were actually nothing alike. On the outside that is. 

One of the kids, the slightly taller one, whispered something to the other. "Who do you think he'll bring...it'll be hard to trump the guy from last time," The other kid just shrugged subtly. "I dunno Ninten...I do not know..." The kid was trembling a little. As if what the other kid, Ninten, had said made him think something. "Look, Ness, I'm sure it won't be someone you know this time...maybe it'll be someone bad...like a child molester..." The kid, Ness, just shrugged like before. He, deep down, was secretly hoping Ninten was right. But with how random the targets had been, Ness had no idea.

A loud noise shocked Ness, as his eye's moved towards the nearby staircase. The staircase was large and wide, but tall it was not. It only took a matter of seconds for whoever was there to walk down it. A figure slowly emerged from the staircase. He was quite tall, and was wearing a robe similar to the others. Although, this robe was inverted, being mostly purple with black highlights. He was also carrying something. Not an object, but people. Two to be exact.

Obviously both had been blindfolded, and their hand tied behind their backs. The man was effortlessly carrying them down the stairs, which was impressive, seeing as they were squirming quite a bit. Slowly, the man made his way to the rest of his comrades. He tossed both people into the center of the pentagram, quite hard. Both let out small groans as they collided with the concrete floor.
